On June 25, a crowd of supporters gathered at the Senator Oliver R. Ocasek Government Building, in downtown Akron, to cheer on Frank C. Comunale as he announced his candidacy for State Senate District 27.
Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry, Summit County Council President Nick Kostandaras, Summit County Fiscal Officer John Donofrio and Summit County Council Member Cazzell Smith were among the long list of area officials on-site and publicly backing Comunale’s candidacy.
The well-known democrat and community activist presently serves as an experienced member of Summit County Council (District 4). He is also employed as the vice president of S.A. Comunale, a fire protection contractor located in the City of Barberton.
“I think our community desperately needs a State Senator who will operate from the democratic perspective,” enthusiastically stated Frank C. Comunale. “I strongly believe our district needs this now more than ever.”
A republican currently holds the seat and is being forced to leave office due to term limits. A primary opponent has yet to publicly challenge Comunale for the position.
“The last democrat to hold the title was Oliver Ocasek in 1982; therefore, today’s rally location is symbolic,” added Comunale. “Like Senator Ocasek, I want to go to Columbus, champion for our community and produce significant results.”
State of Ohio District 27 includes the following communities: Akron, Barberton, Bath, Boston Heights, Copley, Coventry, Cuyahoga Falls, Fairlawn, Hudson, Macedonia, Northfield, Northfield Center, Norton, Peninsula, Reminderville, Richfield, Sagamore Hills, Silver Lake, Stow and Twinsburg.
Frank Comunale is a graduate of Firestone High School and The University of Akron. He presently resides in west Akron.
