News to know

Police found a bag of homemade bombs in a Florida dorm room, and several guns, which one of the students had apparently used to kill himself, CNN reports. The body was a male student who had shared the room with three other roommates.

The incident started at 12:20 a.m., when someone pulled the fire alarm in Tower 1 dorm on the University of Central Florida campus. Police also received a call saying there was someone in the building with a gun. All of the nearly 500 students living in the dorm were evacuated. Police are still investigating, as well as federal authorities. They are unsure who the 911 caller was, and what their connection was to the fire alarm and shooter.

Bloomberg has proposed a law banning stores from openly displaying cigarettes. Cigarettes would need to be hidden under the counter or behind curtains.
