Fire departments were called to the Retirement Residence of Green to check out  a second-floor fire May 30.

Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Groen said they were called to the building, located at 4200 Town Crossing Blvd. at abpit 12:45 p.m. Groen said a stove caught fire in an apartment on the second floor, causing smoke to fill the entire floor. The building, which has 56 retired people residing in it, was evacuated. Groen said only one resident was treated for minor injuries.

Fire departments from Green, Coventry, New Franklin, Uniontown and Jackson were all called to the scene as a precaution, due to the number of people in the building.
