Alan Brubaker, P.E., P.S., Summit County Engineer is offering a new database available to the public on his Web site. The new tool allows residents, developers, surveyors and other professionals to research and download plats and improvement plans for subdivisions on file in the office of the Summit County Engineer.

There are 1,568 records in the database representing 1,191 plats and 377 sets of improvement plans containing over 8000 scanned images.  As of today, 77 percent of those records are mapped and the Engineer’s office is on track to reach 100 percent by the end of summer.

The documents on file at the Engineer’s office are scanned images. The Recording Division of Fiscal Officer John Donofrio’s office maintains the official plats of Summit County.

“The more local governments can make available to citizens online, the more effective residents and their government will be,” said Brubaker.  “I am hopeful that in the future our office can design more databases and website tools to more effectively to communicate with citizens.”

The Web site address is: http://uber.summitengineer.net/survey_subdivision_docs/.  For more information on how to search the database, please contact the Engineer’s office at 330-643-2850.
