Celeste Powell, MH teacher for Coventry Local Schools, received an Outstanding Educator Award at an awards program May 15 at St. George Fellowship Center in Akron. The award honors teachers or teams of individuals who have made outstanding contributions toward standards-based instruction for all learners, building capacity in a district or building, or improving a district or building’s accountability efforts.
Powell was nominated for her work in Accountability by Erwine Middle School Principal Tina Norris, Parent Mentor Gail Love and student Crystal Chapman.
In their nomination, they wrote, “Parents, administrators, colleagues and children who have had the opportunity to work with Celeste describe her service in education as one of devotion and drive, always finding ways to support and prepare students to be productive and fulfilled citizens of the future. Celeste has helped many students focus on their abilities and interests so they could successfully become independent learners and transition into adulthood.”
