In the news: The NBA draft took place last night, and, as expected, Anthony Davis of Kentucky was the No. 1 pick (New Orleans Hornets). Davis' teammate Michael Kidd-Gilchrist went second (Charlotte Bobcats). Six Kentucky players were taken overall, which tied a record for most players from a school in a single draft. 

Happening today: The new movies opening this week are “Magic Mike,” an R movie from director Steven Soderbergh that stars Channing Tatum, Olivia Munn and Matthew McConaughey; “Madea's Witness Protection,” a PG-13 Madea movie from Tyler Perry; and “Ted,” an R comedy from Seth MacFarlane (of “Family  Guy” fame) starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis.

Opening bell: The Dow Jones opened at 12,602.26, down 24.75‎ points Thursday.
