A North Canton woman, 18, was charged with one count of petty theft after she was observed at a Dressler Road department store concealing two women’s fragrances and leaving without paying. The defendant placed the items under a black towel and passed all points of purchase. When she exited the store without paying for the $282.42 worth of merchandise, she was stopped outside the store. She was summoned to appear in court and released June 24.

A Woodmoor Avenue man, 19, was charged with domestic violence after he threatened physical harm to his girlfriend. He was booked into Stark County Jail
June 22.

A Hocking Street man, 45, was charged with one count of resisting arrest, assault and domestic violence June 21. The arrest happened after Jackson Township police responded to an accident where the driver fled. The suspect was questioned at his residence. When officers exited the residence, the suspect’s step-daughter ran from the house screaming. The reporting officer witnessed the defendant striking the victim in the head and attempting to cause physical harm. While in pursuit, the suspect slammed and locked the door. Officers kicked in the door to gain access. The defendant ran to the top of the steps and was given verbal commands to get on the ground. He complied. However, while being handcuffed he started to resist and verbal commands were given to stop. The defendant became enraged when he was brought to his feet and he used profanity. While being escorted from the residence, the suspect resisted and he kicked one officer in the knee. One officer was injured during the incident and another suffered a back injury. The suspect was turned over to the Stark County Sheriff’s Department.

She was observed entering the fitting room and coming out without any merchandise. The fitting room was checked and nothing was found. The defendant passed all points of purchase and did not pay for $56 worth of merchandise. The items were found in her purse. She was charged with theft and summoned to court.

A Massillon man, 41, was charged with domestic violence stemming from an incident on Stulhdreher Street June 20. He became involved in a verbal argument with his son for not calling him on Father’s Day. During the argument, the defendant grabbed the son’s neck and choked him, leaving red marks on both sides of the neck. He was booked into Stark County Jail.

A Canton woman, 21, was charged with an open container violation June 20 after she was drinking a hard ice tea in a truck. She admitted to consuming the beverage and she was given a citation.

A Barberton man, 32, was picked up on an outstanding warrant on charges of obstructing official business and resisting arrest June 13. He was booked into Stark County Jail.

A Wales Avenue man, 47, was picked up on a warrant for menacing. He was arrested after Massillon police picked him up at his residence. While being transported and booked he threatened the victim and officers with physical harm. He was booked into Stark County Jail June 18.

A Wales Avenue man, 23, called police for lockout assistance. Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana on the man. He had marijuana in his pocket that was rolled and partially burnt. He was cited June 18.

A Massillon man, 31, was arrested at a Dressler Road pub after he was escorted from the business. He yelled obscenities at the pub employees to incite them into a physical confrontation. He was arrested for disorderly conduct by intoxication June 19.

A Canton woman, 47, was observed by store security at an Everhard Road department store as she removed tags from four pairs of shoes totaling $89.94. She was observed placing the shoes into a black purse and she exited the store without paying. She fled the scene in a vehicle in which the license plate was recorded by witnesses. She was stopped by Jackson Township police. She made a full confession to police and the items were recovered. She was charged with possessing criminal tools and petty theft June 17. The woman was also wanted by Canton police for an active warrant.

An investigation into a suspicious vehicle led to a Massillon man’s arrest June 20. The defendant was sitting in the car and he admitted to drinking alcohol. There was an open container of Budweiser in the vehicle. He was underage and charged with underage drinking and having physical control of a motor vehicle while impaired.

A purse, wallet, currency, identification, make-up and a cell phone were taken from a car parked in the 5400 block of Dressler Road April 26. The  passenger side window of the vehicle was shattered to gain entry.
