City of Green (Sheriff’s Patrol)
A Hue Drive woman, 28, was arrested for domestic violence June 22 after her husband alleged that she assaulted their 2-year-old daughter. The child was taken to Children’s Hospital for an evaluation. The man also said the woman tried to assault him after a verbal argument. He signed a temporary protection order. The woman was booked into the Summit County Jail.

On June 23, a Massillon Road husband and wife reported someone used their identity to file a fraudulent tax return. They told deputies they had already contacted the IRS and Federal Trade Commission but needed the incident documented at a local level.

Deputies recovered a 1995 Jeep SUV on Country Club Drive June 21. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Akron.

On June 22, a Karla Drive resident reported a wood bench stolen from his yard.

Deputies responded to a call from a Mayfair Road woman who said her boyfriend choked her and pushed her down the steps during an argument over a cell phone. The suspect had left before deputies arrived. The woman was treated at the scene and then taken to a local hospital for further care. Deputies were unable to locate the suspect and later advised the woman to contact the prosecutor’s office for possible charges.

On June 20, a Pickle Road man told deputies that someone got a hold of his credit card and used it at several businesses in the area. One transaction was at a South Arlington Road department store for $772.84. Transactions were also made at a local gas station and supermarket. The man said he might have dropped the credit card at one of the locations.

Deputies investigated a burglary reported at a home in the 4600 block of Mars Road June 20. Two prescription medications and a bicycle were taken.

Thieves entered two vehicles outside an apartment building on Carlile Drive June 19. Two GPS devices, a pair of sunglasses and about $75 were reported stolen. On the same day, a $200 GPS device was taken from a car on Beechtree Drive.

Also on June 19, someone broke into an apartment on Mayfair Road and stole tattoo equipment, two MP3 players and cell phone chargers.

On June 17, employees at a gas station on E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road reported a woman in a red SUV drove off without paying for $12 worth of gas. Four days before someone in a box truck stole $199 worth of diesel fuel.

Coventry Township
A Cleveland Avenue man, 36, was arrested for possession of drug abuse instruments June 21 during a traffic stop on South Arlington Road. He was pulled over for suspicious activity, reports said. Also, a background check revealed he had a warrant for driving under suspension.

A Wymore Avenue woman called deputies after her 27-year-old son, who had moved out a few weeks ago, tried to move back in. The woman refused to allow him back into the house because she believes he stole money from her Social Security check. A deputy advised the man not to return or he would be charged with criminal trespass.

On June 22, a Lakota Avenue man said someone entered his home through an unlocked window and stole three prescription medications.

On June 21, a South Main Street woman reported seeing a man wearing a ski mask looking into her windows. The man was scared off by the woman’s children. The only description given of the suspect was that he was a white male standing five feet and 11 inches tall. Along with the ski mask, he was wearing a dark shirt and pants and a pair of gloves.

Deputies responded to numerous theft and burglary reports on June 19 and 20. At a yacht club on South Main Street, suspects stole a radio, a flare gun and other items from three boats. Two residents on Highspire Drive reported GPS devices and other property stolen from their vehicles. Someone broke into a shed on Waterside Drive and stole a $500 television, and on the same street, three antique dolls and a box of glassware were taken from a car. On Bevan Street, suspects took over $2,000 worth of possessions from one vehicle and a GPS device and clothing from another. A miter saw, a GPS device, and some loose change were taken from a garage and car at a Shook Road home. Similar incidents were reported on Uhl Drive, Wymore Avenue and Rhine Court.

City of New Franklin
Police responded to a domestic call June 23 at a W. Nimisila Road home, where a man was found yelling and screaming with a bleeding right arm. He told the officer that he cut himself after punching a picture frame. The man appeared very angry and disturbed, according to reports. During the investigation, officers learned the 23-year-old man got into an argument with his father and threatened him with bodily harm. He also made a threat of burning down the house. Paramedics took the man to a local hospital for a mental evaluation. After his release, police arrested him for domestic violence and took him to the Summit County Jail where he was booked.

A Peggy Ann Drive man, 21, was found driving under an OVI suspension after being pulled over by an officer on W. Turkeyfoot Lake Road. He was issued a court summons and released.

Police arrested a 41-year-old man for violating a protection order. On June 21, the man was accused of being at a home on W. Nimisla Road. However, his employer confirmed he was at work at the time. The next day police were called back to the home and this time found the man inside.

The owner of a W. Nimisila Road store told police on June 21 that someone used her bank card number and business information to open a wireless account. She found out about the fraud after receiving a bank statement showing charges totaling $617.19.

On June 20, police were called to check on a loud noise complaint at a Renninger Road home. While inside the house, the officer noticed a glass pipe in plain view on a table. An 18-year-old male resident claimed ownership and was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Springfield Township
A caregiver was arrested June 23 following a month-long investigation of an alleged assault of a male resident at a group home on Chevelle Drive. The 23-year-old woman is accused of striking the man in the face while tending to him on May 22. She was booked into the Summit County Jail.  

A 21-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman was arrested June 22 on a charge of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals to manufacture drugs. Police said they found chemicals, tubing and other equipment commonly used to make methamphetamine in her car during a traffic stop on Buena Vista Drive. She was originally pulled over for driving with a broken windshield and taillight.

Police responded to a domestic dispute at a home on Mohawk Trail June 20. Officers questioned a 38-year-old man at the scene and discovered he had a warrant on file in Akron. During a pat down, two plastic bags containing a white powder were found inside a cigarette pack in the man’s pocket. He was arrested for possession of a Schedule I or Schedule II substance and taken to jail.

Police picked up a 21-year-old Akron man at a fried chicken restaurant on E. Waterloo Road June 19. Officers said the man was wanted on a warrant in Akron for sexual battery. He was working as a cook at the restaurant.

A Twin Lakes Drive woman was arrested June 19 on drug charges during a traffic stop on Myersville Road. Reports said the woman tried to shove two bags of methamphetamine down her shorts as the officer was approaching her car. When she was ordered out of the vehicle for a consented search, one of the bags fell to the ground.

Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a woman in the parking lot of a South Arlington Road store on June 19. The woman told investigators she was getting out of her car with her two daughters when a man approached her and demanded money. She said he kept his right hand in his pocket as if he had a gun. The suspect took $64 from the woman and then fled in an unknown direction on South Arlington Road. The suspect is described as a black male in his 40s or 50s, standing six feet tall and weighing about 160 lb. He was wearing a gray jacket and a black hat at the time of the incident.

On June 18, an Akron woman told police that while she was inside a Canton Road gaming parlor, someone stole a diamond/gold watch and a man’s gold/diamond ring from her car. The items were valued at $11,000.

Also on June 18, a motor bike worth $300 was reported stolen from outside a home on Tritt Drive. The bike was secured to a pole at the time.

Uniontown Police
Police investigated an attempted burglary June 23 at a Cleveland Avenue insurance office. Nothing was found disturbed inside.

A Jamestown Avenue woman, 59, was cited June 22 for an animal control violation. Reports said the woman’s dog got loose and attacked a neighbor and her dog while they were out walking. The neighbor sustained some minor scratches.

Police arrested a 34-year-old Limonis Avenue woman for drunken driving June 22. An officer pulled her over on Lake Center Street after observing her driving outside the marked lanes.

On June 20, an employee at a retirement home on Cleveland Avenue said a man called saying he was Osama bin Laden and threatened to kill everybody there.

A laptop computer was reported stolen June 18 from a home on Springwater Avenue.

Hartville Village
On June 24, police investigated a break in at a Market Avenue grocery store. Reports said someone gained entry by throwing a brick through the front glass door. The culprit also broke the window of an upstairs office and then climbed a potato chip rack to get inside. A preliminary check of the premises found nothing missing.

Police arrested three people at Memorial Park on June 23. A Sweitzer Street woman, 47, and her son, 19, were taken into custody after police discovered they had active warrants for failing to appear in court. They were turned over to a Stark County deputy. A 17-year-old Maple Street boy was charged with disorderly conduct. He is accused of threatening to beat up a boy whom he believed gave him the finger. He was released to his mother.

A Market Avenue man, 38, was arrested and jailed June 15 on charges of discharging a firearm within the village limits, carrying a concealed weapon, improperly transporting a weapon in a motor vehicle, and possession of drugs. Police said he fired shots from a 9mm handgun at the end of Wales Avenue. During a pat down officers found three knives on the man, two in his front pants pockets and one in a sheath around his neck. Also found was a container with four yellow pills inside. In addition, police searched his truck and found a black backpack containing handcuffs, leg irons, a retractable baton, a gun cleaning kit, and two empty 9mm magazines. Also found in the truck were brass knuckles and a club. All the items were confiscated.
