The Green Arts Council and the City of Green will host its fifth annual art-A-palooza, a fine arts show, at Boettler Park on Saturday, August 29 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Open to the public, this event is free of charge.

More than 50 artists from around the area will display their art for sale from a variety of mediums including painting, fiber, ceramics, glass, photography, jewelry, outdoor garden art, and more.

Some of the artists displaying works include Wendy Lewis featuring extraordinary quilts, and her mother, Lynn Lewis exhibiting her beautiful paintings.

In addition, jugglers Gerard and Stephen Neugebauer will be entertaining the crowd and offering juggling workshops at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

“Every year the festival is more and more exciting. We have another excellent show planned this year,” said Joan Smith, owner of Gallery 143 and a board member for the Green Arts Council. “We are extremely proud of how this community supports the arts.”

For children age 2 to 12, there will be a free kids’ art activity tent to make and take art.

Also, free entertainment will be performing throughout the day amidst the exhibits including Tim Darnell and the Touch of Spring Strings Band, the Manchester Dance Ensemble, and the Living Fountain Dance Company, a crowd favorite at past art-A-palooza’s.

New this year is the Taste of Green, a selection of lunch and snack options from Green Area restaurants including the 356th Fighter Group, East of Chicago, Fox’s Pizza, and more. Also part of the Taste of Green is a Wine Garden from Noon to 6:00 p.m.

And finally, in the Green Arts Council tent, the organization will be conducting a raffle of more than 50 donated art pieces from the various exhibitors to benefit its scholarship fund.

Per the requirements to exhibit, all artists must submit artwork for approval by the Greens Arts Council and must agree to be on site and available to answer questions from attendees about his/her craft and art.

The Green Arts Council formed in 2003 to promote participation in and appreciation of the arts in the City of Green. The group offers art classes, scholarships to Green graduates pursuing art in college and events such as art-A-palooza.
