City of Green (Sheriff’s Patrol)
A 42-year-old Sawgrass Drive woman was arrested for possession of drugs Jan. 5 after deputies said they found several Oxycontin pills on her during a traffic stop on State Route 619. She was initially stopped for driving with no front license plate.

A 2004 Chevrolet Corvette valued at $27,000 was reported stolen Jan. 3 from a dealership lot on Interstate Parkway. The manager told deputies there were no license plates on the vehicle.

Deputies were called to a Massillon Road gas station convenience store Jan. 5 after employees reported a man loitering inside and refusing to leave. The suspect, a 41-year-old Parma resident, was found to have two warrants from Akron police. During a pat down, officers found merchandise on him that he took while in the store. He was charged with theft and placed into custody on the warrants.

An Aldis Drive woman reported Jan. 2 that someone entered her bedroom and took four rings. Total value of the rings was approximately $5,000.

On Jan. 4 a Mayfair Road man told deputies that someone entered his home while he was on vacation and stole thousands of dollars worth of property. Among the items reported missing were three pistols, a LCD TV, jewelry, eight savings bonds, and $1,400 in cash.

A 26-year-old Springfield Township man was charged with domestic violence Dec. 31. Deputies said he assaulted his girlfriend at her apartment on Mayfair Road. The woman had red marks on her neck where the man allegedly grabbed her by the throat and held her against a wall. The man left before officers arrived. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

A mower deck valued at $4,500 was reported stolen from a resident’s garage on Woodview Drive Dec. 29.

A 28-year-old Akron man was arrested Jan. 3 for driving under suspension and possession of drugs after he was stopped on South Arlington Road for running a red light. A deputy said he smelled burnt marijuana on the man. On the same day, deputies pulled over a 29-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man for driving with a cracked windshield. Officers said he was in possession of drugs and had a warrant in Hudson for driving without a license.


Coventry Township (Sheriff’s Patrol)
A 41-year-old Wymore Avenue woman was charged with disorderly conduct Jan. 3. Deputies said she was yelling obscenities and spitting outside a gas station on South Main Street. She later admitted causing the disturbance because she was drunk.

A township man told deputies that he left his car parked at a business on Stahl Road. When he returned to pick it up, he found all four tires and the battery missing. The rear window was also broken out.

A 19-year-old Akron man was arrested on multiple charges Jan. 2 after a report said he was observed driving recklessly on Mong Avenue, almost hitting several drivers in the oncoming lane. Officers found him heavily intoxicated. He became violent when ordered out of his car and attempted to hit a witness, deputies said. He was charged with drunken driving, blood alcohol content, reckless operation and disorderly conduct.

A 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass valued at $1,000 was reported stolen Jan. 2 from outside an apartment on Mallard Point. The owner was in the hospital when the alleged theft occurred, the report said.

A 45-year-old Akron man was charged with violation of a protection order after deputies said he continued to call his ex-girlfriend at her home on W. Rhine Avenue.


City of New Franklin
On Jan. 3, a Clinton woman reported her car was vandalized while she was visiting a friend on Weaver Road. According to the report, someone punctured the two rear tires, put scratch marks all over the exterior and spoiler, and sprayed orange and black paint on the windows and hood. An estimate of the damage was unavailable.

A 30-year-old Will Drive man was arrested for domestic violence Jan. 1. Police said he choked his mother while she was sitting in a chair, pushing her backward. He then asked her what she was going to do about it. When she tried calling 911, he knocked the phone out of her hand and shoved her into a wall. Officers found red marks on the woman’s neck. The man was booked into the Summit County Jail.

A 36-year-old North 5th Avenue man was charged with aggravated arson Dec. 29 after he reportedly admitted starting a fire at his home. An officer arriving on the scene found the home engulfed in heavy smoke and flames. The Clinton Fire Department was called to extinguish the blaze. No one was inside the home at the time. The man was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail.

The owner of a Manchester Road car wash called police Dec. 26 after he noticed a man sitting in his car in the parking lot drinking from a can of beer. He said he asked the man to leave but he refused. An officer later saw the man get out of his car with the beer and walk across the parking lot. When he approached him, the man threw the beer on the ground. The 56-year-old suspect, who lives nearby, was charged with an open container violation and released with a summons.


Springfield Township
A 34-year-old Barberton man was arrested at a South Arlington Road discount store Dec. 31 on charges of theft, criminal damaging and possession of drug abuse instruments. Reports said police were called to the store after an employee saw the man put a computer in a shopping cart and wheel it to the lawn and garden department. There, he allegedly disabled the fire door exit by breaking open the alarm and turning it off. He was apprehended shortly after while trying to elude officers inside the store. During his arrest, a hypodermic needle was found on him. In addition, police said he had a warrant in Medina County where he was later turned over.

Someone broke into a Sherbrook Drive home by kicking in the rear door. The intruder then took 100 record albums, a digital camera, and a nail gun with case, total value $709. Damage to the door was about $200.

The manager of a Canton Road bank told police Dec. 30 that when two local businesses brought in their moneybags for deposit, a $20 counterfeit bill was found in each of the deposits. Federal and local authorities were investigating the matter.

A 46-year-old North Canton man was charged with theft Dec. 27 at a South Arlington Road home improvement store. Police said he walked out with two pipe wrenches hidden in his jacket sleeve.

Five inflatable Christmas displays valued at $400 were reported stolen Dec. 30 from the front yard of a Swinehart Road home.

A Tisen Road man told police that someone threw vinegar, dish soap, beans, eggs and powdered sugar on his car, causing about $1,000 in damage to the paint.

Police arrested a man on Dec. 29 for allegedly stealing two watches from a South Arlington Road discount store. According to the report, officers were unable to learn the man’s identity because he spoke very little English. He was put in a holding cell at the Summit County Jail until his identity could be established. Four other individuals were arrested for alleged thefts at the same location Dec. 27-29. They included a 29-year-old Myrtle Beach woman, who was charged for taking $122 in clothing and having drug items in her purse; a 35-year-old Hartville man charged for taking a box of weight-loss pills; and two Akron girls, ages 15 and 17, for walking out with two $10 necklaces.


Lakemore Village

On Dec. 27, a Canton man reported his truck and motorcycle were vandalized while stored inside his girlfriend’s garage on Hidden Lakes Blvd. Numerous scratches and derogatory words were found carved into the vehicles. Later the same day, the man requested an officer escort him to the location while he had the vehicles removed from the garage. While there, he got into an argument with his girlfriend and threatened to punch her in the face. The officer charged him with domestic menacing and took him to the Summit County Jail.

A 15-year-old Mt. View Ave. boy was charged with theft Dec. 29 after police said he tried to steal a bottle of cologne from a Canton Road drug store. According to reports, as the boy was leaving the store, the electronic surveillance detector went off, at which time the boy re-entered the store and tried to return the item.

Police were called to investigate a disturbance outside a Front Street home Dec. 29. A 17-year-old Akron boy was found intoxicated at the scene. He was charged with underage consumption and disorderly conduct and later released to his mother.


Uniontown Police
Police were called to investigate what they initially thought was a burglary in progress reported Jan. 1 outside a home on Sprucehaven Street. The incident turned out to be a domestic assault involving a 24-year-old Cleveland man who allegedly choked his girlfriend while the two were arguing in a car. Officers handcuffed the suspect and placed him in the back of a cruiser. While in the cruiser, police said the man kicked out both rear windows and spit at the officers. He was later booked into the Stark County Jail on charges of domestic violence, assault and vandalism.

A 57-year-old Cleveland Ave. man was arrested for drunken driving Jan. 1. Police said his blood alcohol content was .253, more than three times the legal limit. He was initially stopped for speeding after police radar tracked him doing 70 mph in a 45 mph zone.

On Dec. 30, a Cove Street woman reported someone turned on an outside water faucet at her home, causing flooding in her basement. She told police this was the second time this happened in the last six months.


Hartville Village
On Dec. 29, a Wales Drive business owner reported a catalytic converter stolen from a vehicle parked in his lot.
