Akron-Canton Airport is fully-operational again after commercial flights were suspended this morning because of flooding from heavy storms.  The airport reopened at 11:30 am. Flights were suspended from 8:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. as power was shut down as a safety precaution to pump out water.

The airport lost primary power sometime last night because of flooding in the terminal building basement, where the electrical distribution is located. Our backup generator kicked on around 4:45 a.m. allowing early morning flights to depart.    Anyone flying out of CAK today should check the status of their flight with their airline for possible cancellations and delays.  Both the City of Green Fire Department and FirstEnergy assisted in the effort to reopen the airport.
