The body of a woman found dead Thursday afternoon in rural Wayne County has been identified as a Jackson Township woman.

Ashley Biggs, 25, whose last known address was on South Boulevard NW, was found after the Summit County Sheriff’s Office was notified that Biggs was missing early Thursday morning.

Chad J. Cobb, 30, of Rittman, who is going through a contentious custody case with Biggs over their 6-year-old daughter, has been arrested in connection with the murder.

Cobb remained in Summit County Jail on Friday on charges of aggravated murder and kidnapping in lieu of a $1.5 million bond.

Media reports said Biggs was working as a delivery driver at an Akron pizza shop when she went missing.

New Franklin police were asked to help and found a scene at 647 W. Turkeyfoot Lake Road where it appeared a struggle had taken place. Wayne County deputies subsequently found a woman’s body in a car in rural Chippewa Township. It was later determined to be Biggs.

Wayne authorities said it appeared that Biggs was killed in Summit County, then brought to Wayne.
Investigators listed Biggs as an Akron resident, but Summit County court records in the custody battle list her most recent address as Jackson Township.

No one answered the door Friday night at the apartment.

Court records show Biggs and Cobb, who never married, had a daughter in July 2005 and continued to fight over custody and the child-parenting plan through the Summit County Common Pleas Court.

In court papers, both sides accused the other of violating court-ordered custody plans and interference. Cobb, in the most recent filings earlier this month, complained that Biggs kept the child from using a cellphone to call him as ordered by the court. He also accused her of interfering with previously arranged summer vacation plans.

Cobb was convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence charge in Akron Municipal Court in August 2005. Court records show he was ordered to get anger management counseling and not have any other domestic run-ins with Biggs.
