- National Ice Cream Day takes place next Sunday (July 15). President Ronald Reagan declared the third Sunday of July National Ice Cream Day, and he also set July as National Ice Cream Month.

- Monday is the anniversary of the 14th Amendment, which guaranteed African-Americans full citizenship and all people in the U.S. due process of law. The amendment was ratified on July 9, 1868.

- There’s only one movie opening in wide release this week: “Ice Age: Continental Drift.” This PG movie is another in the animated franchise of the same name.
