In the news: The FBI announced that sewing needles were found in four turkey sandwiches served on Delta Air Lines flights and that it is investigating. Only one person was injured by a needle, but not seriously. The FBI said the flights were from Amsterdam to the U.S. and the turkey sandwiches were from the same food company.

Opening bell: The Dow Jones opened at 12,727.21. It fell 49.88 points Monday.

Watercooler talk: Northwestern University names language study after Stephen Colbert

Stephen Colbert inspired his former university to name a language after him: Colbertian. Northwestern University created a language for a research study and looked no further than their wordiest alum.
