An employee at a Manchester Road gas station called police after someone in a green Dodge Durango pumped $119 worth of gas and drove off without paying. Police contacted the owner through a license plate number and learned the vehicle had been reported stolen in Springfield Township. About a week later, the same driver and vehicle were identified leaving the same gas station after $76 worth of gas was stolen. Police later charged a 26-year-old Akron man for the thefts after learning he was in sheriff’s custody on an unrelated warrant.
Police were called to investigate a break-in at a boarded up home on Myers Road. The home was unoccupied due to a fire the previous week. A gun and a range finder, total value $400, were reported stolen.
A 30-year-old Center Road man was charged with driving under suspension after he was stopped for a traffic violation on Van Buren Road. Police also charged a 29-year-old woman, a passenger in the car, with wrongful entrustment after she admitted she allowed the man to drive her car knowing he was under suspension.
Someone removed five letters from a business sign outside a drive-in on Cleveland-Massillon Road. The incident reportedly occurred between April 4 and April 11. Value of the letters was about $100.
Police received an anonymous tip that a man was living at a Manchester Road home in violation of a temporary protection order. An officer was unable to contact the man at the home but spoke to his grandson, who said he was living there but had left. Police later found the 64-year-old suspect at another location and arrested him.
A 44-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man was arrested for drunken driving after police said he failed several field sobriety tests during a traffic stop on Manchester Road.
