A 32-year-old Avis Road man was arrested on theft and drug possession charges after police said he stole his sister’s prescription medication and was found with multiple drug-abuse instruments. The man’s father originally called police to the home. Officers said they found the suspect agitated, jittery, and unable to talk in complete sentences. He admitted he was addicted to opiates and heroin and took his sister’s pills to “get the edge off.” During the investigation, police found two hypodermic syringes, four spoons and a pipe belonging to the suspect. After being treated at a local hospital, the suspect was booked into the Summit County Jail.
Someone removed the shingles from a concession stand at a ballpark on Brunk Road. Total value of the property was listed at $2,500.
A man told police that someone driving a dark green Jeep Cherokee entered his unlocked car and tore out the radio. The incident occurred outside a supermarket on E. Waterloo Road. Property value and damages totaled about $230.
A 26-year-old Coach Lane man was charged with domestic violence. His girlfriend told police that when she tried to get out of her car, he grabbed her purse and pulled her back inside. He then got out of the car and kicked off a side mirror. The woman went to a neighbor’s to call police. The man was gone when officers arrived. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
An Akron woman reported someone took her wallet while she was shopping at a S. Arlington Road department store. The wallet contained a driver’s license and two gift cards worth $76.
A 29-year-old Akron woman was charged with theft at a S. Arlington Road department store. Police said she put two digital cameras and a pair of sunglasses in her purse and walked out without paying.
A Tisen Road woman told police that someone pried her side door open to gain entry into the house. Nothing appeared to be missing or disturbed at the time of the report. Damage to the door was about $115.
A 45-year-old Akron woman was charged with theft after she failed to pay for her cab ride. She originally told the cab driver she had enough to pay for the fare. But when she arrived at her location, a S. Arlington Road gas station, she said she didn’t have any money.
An Albrecht Avenue man said someone siphoned about 20 gallons of gas from his pickup truck. Total loss was $67, he said.
