Police said a 29-year-old Akron man went to a S. Arlington Road restaurant and began arguing with a woman over their recent break-up. He then punched her several times in the face, giving her visible injuries. He was arrested for assault and taken to the Summit County Jail.
Two rings, a refrigerator, and a washer and dryer, total value $2,000, were reported stolen from a Swartz Road home. The victim accused her daughter-in-law, who has a key to the house, of taking the property. The incident is under investigation.
On April 12, police found a 28-year-old man passed out in his car in a hotel parking lot on S. Arlington Road. A suicide note and several pill bottles were found inside the car, the report said. In addition, police discovered the man was wanted on warrants in Canton. He was taken to an area hospital and later turned over to Canton police.
Someone climbed on to the roof of a vacant business on Canton Road and removed the copper wiring and metal conduit. Total value of the property was $7,100.
A 42-year-old E. Waterloo Rd. man was charged with domestic violence after he allegedly grabbed his 17-year-old daughter by the neck and shoved her back, while cursing her. The girl told police her father had been drinking prior to the incident. He was arrested and booked at the Summit County Jail.
A Junior Avenue woman reported someone used her credit card to make several gasoline purchases totaling $722. She said she didn’t realize her credit card was missing until she received her bill on April 8. She believes the card was taken from her purse while she was at work.
Police arrested a 46-year-old Massillon Road man for aggravated menacing. He is accused of threatening a woman with a baseball bat at a local tattoo parlor.
A 42-year-old Akron man was charged with theft at a supermarket on E. Waterloo Road. Police said he picked up several bags of shrimp and crab legs and left without paying for them.
A Lakemore man told police that he won $1,800 in credits at a Canton Road gaming parlor but was given only $15 in cash for his winnings. He said a worker told him the business would buy him prizes for his credits, but so far he’s only received a $200 mountain bike. The incident is under investigation.
A 31-year-old Maxfli Drive man was issued a summons for violating a noise ordinance. Police said he kept a power generator running in his backyard after being told the day before to turn it off because of the noise.
