Springfield Township
A GPS device and a .380 caliber pistol, total value $456, were reported stolen after a pickup truck was broken into on Albrecht Avenue. Damage to the passenger side window was estimated at $100.
A warrant for telephone harassment was issued for a 41-year-old Barberton man. Police said he made several harassing calls to a man on Sarah Drive. An officer listened to the taped calls and heard the suspect say that he knew where the victim lived and was going to get him.
About 20 compact discs valued at $500 were reported stolen from a home on Onondago Trail. The victim told police that someone entered the home through an unlocked window.
A Uniontown woman told police that she did contract work for a Lake Road man who paid her with a check that was later returned for insufficient funds. The check for $2,500 and a written statement by the victim were pending further investigation at the time of the report.
A 33-year-old Massillon man was charged with having an open container and possession of drug paraphernalia after he was pulled over for a lane crossing violation on State Route 241. Police said a marijuana pipe was found in his car during an inventory check.
A 2000 Yamaha motorcycle was reported stolen from a garage on Mingo Trail. Also, a purse and digital camera were taken from a vehicle inside the garage. Total value of the property was not known.
Three juveniles, ages 14-17, were charged after they were caught trying to break into a concession stand at a park on Brunk Road. Police said they found a flashlight and break-in tools on two of the teens.
A bicycle, a tire pump and a chain lock, total value $121, were taken from the front yard of a Marion Avenue home.
A Massillon Road woman told police on May 8 that she let a male acquaintance use her van for a job, but he failed to return it. Police issued a warrant for the 38-year-old suspect, charging him with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The next day, the woman called police to inform them the van had been returned but $5,000 worth of tools that were inside the vehicle were missing.
Lakemore Village
A 27-year-old Fourth Street man was charged with domestic violence. He is accused of pushing his girlfriend down several times and slapping her in the face. He was gone before police arrived. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
A graphic calculator valued at $100 was reported stolen from a student’s locker at Springfield High School.
A 49-year-old Akron man was charged with theft and possession of drugs. Police said he stole three cans of beer from a Canton Road drug store. During his arrest, officers found 59 morphine tablets and another illegal drug in his possession. He was taken to the Summit County Jail.
A Main Street man reported someone tried to pry open the front passenger door of his car, causing damage to the rubber seal.
Uniontown Police
An aluminum brake valued at $1,275 was taken from the back patio of a home on Lake Road. The owner said the property was under a tarp and not secured.
A 38-year-old Kent man was arrested for drunken driving and suspension violations after he was stopped for speeding on Cleveland Avenue. Court records showed he had five prior DUI convictions. He was booked into the Stark County Jail.
An MP3 player and $20 in cash, total value $220, were taken from two vehicles at a home on Carnation Avenue. A third vehicle was entered but nothing was taken.
A Fairwynde Circle woman reported two prescription medications missing from a pill container at her home. She told police that her son had several friends over the house recently.
A cell phone and charger, total value $150, were reported stolen from a home on Andrews Street. Police said there were no signs of forced entry.
Hartville Village
An employee at a discount store on Kent Avenue called police after finding what appeared to be a clear plastic bag of marijuana on a shelf. Police later confirmed the bag contained about 100 grams of the illegal drug.
Police were called to investigate an ongoing neighbor dispute on S. Prospect Avenue. A man at the scene told an officer that he had a security video showing a neighbor woman damaging his fence. The officer viewed the video and saw the woman walk over to the fence, then saw the fence moving back and forth. When later questioned about the matter, the 86-year-old suspect said she lost her balance and grabbed onto the fence to keep from falling. She was charged with criminal mischief.
