Police Reports for Green, Coventry, and New Franklin

City of Green
(Sheriff’s Patrol)

A 20-year-old Manchester Road man was charged with assault after he allegedly punched a man in the face and knocked him unconscious outside a bar on Massillon Road. He and another man fled in a car before deputies arrived on the scene. Officers stopped the car shortly after. The driver, a 21-year-old Skyside Drive man, was charged with obstructing official business for reportedly giving officers false statements of the incident.

A large black bag containing clothing and a credit card was reported stolen at the Akron-Canton Airport. Total value of the bag and clothing was about $7,000. The credit card had a charge limit of $50,000.

A 20-year-old Uniontown man was charged with theft for allegedly stealing four containers of cough medicine and a bottle of water from a supermarket on Corporate Woods Parkway.

An employee at a home improvement store on Massillon Road told deputies two men and a woman came in and browsed a short time in the plumbing department. After they left, she noticed a large amount of copper fittings missing from the area.

A 19-year-old Coventry Township man was arrested for possession of drugs and paraphernalia after he was pulled over for a stop sign violation on S. Arlington Road. Deputies found an electronic scale with suspected marijuana residue in his car. In addition, when asked to empty his pockets, he handed an officer a bag of marijuana.

A woman reported a debit card and a Social Security card stolen from her purse while she was at work at a S. Arlington Road restaurant. The purse was in a back room where employees keep their personal items.

A 31-year-old Coventry Township man was charged with assault and criminal damaging. Deputies said he choked a woman and threw a chair against the wall at the woman’s home on Cottage Grove Road.

A resident on E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road reported a bottle containing 75 Zanaflex pills stolen from her home.

A Massillon man told deputies he left his car in the short-term parking lot at the Akron-Canton Airport. When he returned from his trip, he found the convertible top had been slashed. An estimate of the damage was unavailable.

Coventry Township
(Sheriff’s Patrol)

A 34-year-old Port Drive woman was charged with driving under suspension and obstructing official business. During a traffic stop on S. Main Street, she got out of her car and refused  to get back inside after repeated warnings from an officer, the report said. She was taken to the Summit County Jail.

A pontoon boat valued at $15,325 was reported stolen from outside a home on Surfside Drive.

A 23-year-old Akron woman was charged with theft after deputies said she drove off from a Waterloo Road gas station without paying for $40 worth of gas.

An E. Vista Road woman said someone dumped a large tree trunk in her yard without her knowledge or permission.

A 15-year-old Chaffin Road girl was arrested for domestic violence and taken to the juvenile detention center. According to reports, she pushed a door closed on her mother, pinning her between the door and frame, then reached around and slapped her mother in the face.

Someone stole the license plates off two vehicles on Derling Road.

Deputies responded to a complaint of an intoxicated male at a motel on Manchester Road. A 19-year-old Green man was charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication. The report said he was going in and out of the motel and at one point offered a man sexual favors in exchange for cigarettes. Paramedics later took him to a detoxification center for treatment.

A Stahl Road man reported 30 Percocet pills stolen from his home.

City of New Franklin

Police were dispatched to a home on Grove Road May 4 after a man said he was having health complications from using drugs. He admitted he had been smoking crack cocaine for the past two days and felt like he was having a heart attack. Police found drug paraphernalia in the basement and a bag of Vicodin pills in a kitchen cabinet that the man said he had bought recently from a drug dealer. The 33-year-old suspect was taken to an area hospital for treatment and later charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

A lawn tractor valued at $1,800 was reported stolen from a detached garage at a home on Vanderhoof Road. The owner told police she kept the garage door ajar so her pets could go in and out.

A 60-year-old city man was taken to a local emergency room after he stabbed himself in the stomach with a butcher knife. He reportedly told police he was depressed and wanted to harm himself.

A Craftsman ratchet set and a green ammo box, total value $650, were reported taken from the bed of a pickup truck on Melton Avenue.

A Grill Road woman told police that a former male friend called her collect seven times May 8 from the Medina County Jail. She refused to accept charges each time. Police contacted deputies at the jail, who then advised the man to stop calling the woman.
