Green, Ohio -

It’s not just the football program that will benefit from the turf project at Green Memorial. There will be band shows and other sports on the field when the project is completed late summer.

The hottest fashion trend in Green right now is donning student designed t-shirts that ask “Got Turf?”

“We wanted to get all of the schools involved in the turf project,” said Green AthleticDirector Mark Pfaff. “Debbie Daniels contacted all of the art teachers.”

Daniels, the administrative assistant to Pfaff, said the art teachers were enthusiastic.

She developed criteria for the design. “We wanted to incorporate all the things that will happen at the field,” said Daniels.

A committee of judges selected one design winner from each school. “The designs were incredible,” added Pfaff.

Got Game Sports, a local business featuring sporting items, jumped in to help. They are printing the six different designs on various sizes of t-shirts.

“The t-shirts will be available May 19,” said Pfaff. Each school will sell their winning design at their school. The cost is $15.

“Any student who purchases a t-shirt will get into the first football game (Aug. 22) free,” said Pfaff. “We’ll have a pre-game ceremony and those with t-shirts can stand on the new field. We’ll also introduce the design winners.”

The winners will receive a limo ride to lunch at Menches with Green Superintendent Dr. Wade Lucas. Pfaff said the limo likely will make a detour to Handel’s Ice Cream.

The winners are Nolan Rollyson, Anne Zivick, Caris Flowers, Heather Daniels, Shelby Chizmar and Matt Somogye.
