A 1997 Honda Civic was reported stolen April 18 from outside a restaurant on Everhard Road NW.
A 39-year-old woman from Churchmont Street, Canton, was charged with theft April 17 for taking $457 worth of clothing from a department store at the Belden Village Mall. A loss prevention officer said he saw the woman put the clothing in a large bag and leave without paying. On the same day at the mall, a 41-year-old woman from Auburn Avenue NW, Canton, was accused of shoplifting $112 worth of clothing from another department store. Police also discovered she had an active warrant on file in New Philadelphia.
An electric guitar valued at $2,323 was reported taken from a music store on Wales Avenue NW sometime between April 12 and 18.
A Thackery Avenue woman told police on April 18 that a man was continually calling and texting her despite her telling him several times to stop. An officer spoke to the man by phone and advised him to stop contacting the woman or he would be charged with telecommunications harassment.
A Louisville woman said private documents were taken from her unlocked car while she was at a store on Belden Village Street NW April 18.
A Lincoln Way East man, 36, was charged with theft April 17 after he was accused of stealing two 12-packs of beer from a store at a truck stop on Portage Street NW.
Copper piping valued at $1,500 was reported stolen April 17 from a vacant home in the 8200 block of Caroline Street NW.
Police were called to a store at the Belden Village Mall April 16 after a clerk said two middle-aged women stole several pairs of sunglasses valued at $900. Police were unable locate the suspects.
Also on April 16, an officer patrolling the 4300 block of Hills and Dales Road saw a man stumbling and thought he might be intoxicated and need help. The man was identified as a 25-year-old of Lake Street. A background check revealed he had an active warrant for drunken driving in Perry Township. He was arrested and turned over to Perry Township police.
Two air-conditioning units valued at $2,000 were reported taken from a Promler Street business sometime between April 14 and 16.
A 28-year-old Wooster man was arrested for damaging the landscape outside a hotel on Everhard Road April 15. Police said the man was highly intoxicated.
Also on April 15, an officer patrolling a Strip Avenue plaza found a man sleeping in his car in the parking lot. After receiving consent to conduct a search, the officer found a crack pipe in the man’s pocket. The man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released with a summons.

A 31-year-old man from Casper Drive, Canton, was charged with possession of drugs April 15 after police said they found 12.1 grams of marijuana in his pocket during a traffic stop on Queensway Street.
On April 14, police responded to a report of a stolen car in the 3900 block of Wales Avenue. A short time later, officers spotted a car matching the description on Portage Street traveling at a high rate of speed. The officers activated their overhead lights and siren in pursuit of the driver, who refused to pull over. The chase continued north on Interstate 77, where officers said the driver was traveling at speeds in excess of a 100 mph. The suspect, later identified as a 32-year-old Akron man, was apprehended in Akron after bailing from the car and attempting to flee on foot. He faces charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle, theft and failure to comply with a police order.
A 40-year-old man from Chantilly Circle, North Canton, was arrested on a failure-to- appear warrant after he was stopped for speeding April 14 at the intersection of Portage Street and Whipple Avenue.
A 21-year-old Canton woman was arrested on a felony theft warrant April 9 after being pickup by police in Perry Township. She is accused of stealing more than $3,000 from her former employer. According to the original report, she told police she made five separate bank deposits for her employer. However, a bank representative said there were no records of the alleged deposits.
