On April 10, a laptop computer valued at $1,900 was reported taken from a car while parked outside a home in the 7300 block of Sunset Strip Avenue NE. The car was unlocked.
A Fulton Drive florist told police April 9 that a man came in and bought something with a traveler’s check and she gave him $75 in change. When she tried later to cash the check, she found out it was a fake.
Also April 9, a North Carolina woman accused a cousin of verbally abusing her and threatening to damage her car during a dispute at a home on Palmer Drive. The woman did not want to press charges but asked the incident be documented and logged for future reference.
A woman, who told police she was in the process of moving, went to her old apartment on Casper Avenue and found her $700 television was stolen. She believes the incident occurred sometime between 9:30 p.m. April 7 and 1:15 p.m. April 8. A woman in an adjoining apartment reported a burglary during the same timeframe. She said she woke up and found the lock on her sliding glass door broken and the inside wood block removed. A stereo receiver valued at $800 was found missing.
On April 7, police were called to investigate a burglary at a business in the 6100 block of Whipple Avenue NW. According to reports, a suspect broke into the building by prying open a rear door. A file cabinet drawer was pried open but nothing was reported missing.
A Canton woman reported cash was stolen from her wallet while she was at a Strip Avenue NW restaurant April 7.
A 9-ft. piece of galvanized metal worth $100 was reported stolen April 7 from the front of a bicycle shop on 20th Street in Canton.
On the same day, a Canton man said his registration sticker was removed from his car while he was parked at an apartment complex on South Boulevard NW.
An 84-year-old man on Mill Ridge Circle man discovered that someone used his debit card at least five times since he lost it on March 20.
A Hartville woman reported property was stolen from her car while she was shopping at a store on Belden Village Street NW April 6. Among the items taken were the woman’s purse, a $400 iPod, a pair of sunglasses, and clothing. Police later obtained surveillance photos of a male suspect reportedly using a credit card from the woman’s purse at a gas station on Whipple Avenue.
