Name: Andrew V. Adam

Born: St. Thomas Hospital, Akron, 23 years ago.

Education: Bachelor’s from the University of Akron, Walsh High School.

Family: Father, Vincent, has worked for Akron Public Schools more than 30 years. Little brother, Thomas, 21, is a student at Ohio Northern University.

Favorite Book: Where the Red Fern Grows. It’s the only book I’ve read twice. I liked the dog.

Favorite movie: Any Rocky movie, but Rocky 4 was probably my favorite.
People would be surprised to know...I haven’t taken a day off from running in two years. Sometimes that means running at 11:30 p.m., just to keep the streak alive. Sometimes it was late because I covered Coventry basketball games.

The worst job I’ve ever had...I’ve never had a horrible job.

Why did you want to work for The Suburbanite? I’ve wanted to write since
I was in high school and once I got to college, it was all I wanted to do.

Who influenced you? In my junior and senior years in high school, I had two teachers, Tom Cardone and Stan Sever. Both loved my writing.


Accomplishments: During my second year with the Buchelite, I wrote the most articles allowed. In running, I was first in my age group in the Akron Marathon. Another good feeling, as a coach, was standing with the guys when the Walsh team were the state runners up.

What philosophy do you live by? If you’re going to do something, give it your full effort.

What do you like best about working at The Suburbanite? I like getting to work with the newspaper, doing what I went to school for.
