Parties, dinners, dances, and family gathering are all wonderful excuses to get all dressed up for the holidays. Donna Gill, shop owner of First Impressions in Hartville, graciously demonstrated several hairstyles for our readers benefit. Gill pointed out that the hair ideas that she gave are easy to do at home and can be done with no more than 8 or 10 bobby pins.
Gill added that a common misconception is that only people with long hair can dress up their tresses for the holidays. For ladies with short hair Gill modeled a hairstyle that can be swept back using a gel or styling product for a sleek look. The model’s hair was swept away and back from her face for an elegant look.
Medium length and long hair can be dressed up using hot rollers or the popular bump it look. Hair may be backcombed on the top and combed over for a popular style and worn into a fancy side ponytail with a mix or curls and straight pieces.
The trends that Gill has been observing for this season are side pony tails, messy buns, and soft curls. Highlighting hair is still popular this year, but Gill added that women who have typically gotten golden highlights are choosing reds. “Red is huge this year,” said Gill. Temporary hair color can be added as well as color extensions.
Accessorizing hair is very popular for this holiday season. The popular trend in holiday styles is to add jewels. Gill suggested using simple jewels in the hair for an added sparkle.
The objective for this season is not to spend a long time on over styled hair. The look is simple, fresh and easy.
