O’Neil Quick Lube is beginning its fifth year in business this month, and owners, husband and wife, Scott and Jill Grizer have proven themselves to be an excellent team.
The couple bought O’Neil Quick Lube five years ago from the previous owner mainly because, “they were tired of getting ripped off taking their cars to other places,” said Jill.
Scott went to school to be an automobile technician, and worked at Chrysler, so it seemed like buying O’Neil Quick Lube would be a perfect fit.
Jill’s brother had been employed there for years, so they were already familiar with the company.
Scott now works at O’Neil Quick Lube full time running the business and doing hands-on work on the vehicles. Jill is there about three days a week and handles the administrative and customer service aspect of the business. They have three full-time employees and one part-time.
All of their employees have been there at least two years, and are experienced in the field.
O’Neil Quick Lube provides a variety of services but they concentrate most on performing a speedy oil change for a fair price along with the necessary maintenance to make their customers’ cars last longer.
Scott and Jill both agree that the most important part of their business is customer service. They price their services competitively to give their customers the lowest possible price with the best possible service. They do not practice ‘bait-n-switch’ advertising like bigger chain companies. O’Neil Quick Lube charges different amounts for different services, whereas many chain stores have fixed amounts that end up being unfair pricing to the customer.
The Grizer’s get to know many of their patrons personally and 80 percent of their business is repeat customers.
“Word of mouth is our best advertiser,” said Jill.
Many people come to O’Neil Quick Lube to fix their cars after other places failed to do so. O’Neil Quick Lube does work on many different types of vehicles. They service cars of all shapes and sizes, makes and models; including motor homes, box trucks, old cars and limos. They are flexible and will work with their customers specific needs to ensure 100 percent satisfaction.
They also offer a senior discount.
Scott and Jill work hard to balance their time at work and at home with their two kids.
“It’s hard to arrange schedules so someone is always home, but that’s what we try to do,” said Jill, who is president of the PTA at Nolley Elementary School.
Jill also plans to conduct a ladies seminar at O’Neil Quick Lube to teach women about car parts and maintenance.
