Symphony Oktoberfest 

The Akron Symphony Guild will hold OKTOBERFEST 2018 at 6 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Thirsty Dog Brewing Company, 529 Grant St. Guests will be able to taste Thirsty Dog’s renowned brews and feast on traditional German foods, while enjoying German-themed music by the Akron Symphony’s Steve Ostrow. Partygoers can purchase raffle tickets to win a "’Barrow of Booze," an overflowing wheelbarrow and its contents of liquor, wine, beer and party supplies. The raffle tickets are $10 each or 3 tickets for $25. Tickets will also be pre-sold by Akron Symphony Guild members or at akronsymphony.org. The winner need not be present to win.

Metro Parks fall fun

From 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 13, fall into autumn fun courtesy of the Summit County Metro Parks with free hayrides, bonfires, naturalist activities, live music, apple cider, cookies and more. A wheelchair-accessible hay wagon is available. For information, call 330-865-8065. The family fun takes place at Silver Creek Metro Park/Bathhouse and Pheasant Run Area, 5000 Hametown Road, Norton.

Boo at the Zoo

Dress your little ghosts and goblins in their costumes for everyone's favorite non-scary Halloween event, Boo at the Zoo, from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 and Oct. 14 at the Akron Zoo. Bring your own bag or bucket to collect treats from 12 themed treat stations located throughout the zoo. The zoo is at 500 Edgewood Ave., Akron.
