Kids Ride Free
From now through Aug. 31, the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad will run a Kids Ride Free special, presented by WKYC. For one adult National Park Scenic coach ticket ($15), one child’s National Park Scenic coach ticket (ages 12 and under) is free. Limited to three children per household. After three free coach child’s tickets, any additional passengers will require paid tickets. The Kids Ride Free special is available Tuesdays through Fridays in August. The National Park Scenic coach ticket is an all-day pass, so families can get off the train and explore Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Tickets can be purchased in advance at cvsr.com, by phone at 1-800-468-4070 x1, or at Rockside station, Peninsula depot, or Akron Northside station 30 minutes prior to departure. Live After 5
Join in a fun evening of music featuring Buck Naked from 5 to 11 p.m. Aug. 11 during Live After Five at Green's Central Park. The evening will include food and adult beverages to be sold by a variety of vendors. All proceeds go to benefit junior and senior high school athletes. GPD Employees’ Foundation is hosting Inclusion Day at Derby Downs, 789 Derby Downs Drive, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 11. The event is a day where individuals with all different abilities and their friends and family will have the opportunity to take a ride down the world-famous Derby Downs Track in a dual-operated Soap Box Derby car. Guests will also enjoy lunch, entertainment and other fun activities. The cost of the day is $5 per racer with completion of online registration and waiver form of all participants available at www.inclusionday.soapboxderby.org.
DIY in the 'Ville
Calling all girls. DIY in the 'Ville Returns to Downtown Hartville from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 11. Hartville shopkeepers will provide make and takes and other "DIY" activities for teens, adults and kids. Bring your girlfriends or kiddos, take your time strolling from shop to shop on a pretty Saturday afternoon, and get crafty.
