GREEN Construction of two roundabouts will be beginning soon in Green.

The city plans to construct a roundabout at the intersection of state Route 619 and Pickle Road and one at the intersection of Corporate Woods Circle and Corporate Woods Parkway this year. Utility relocation work is expected to begin in early August for the Pickle Road roundabout, with construction of the Corporate Woods roundabout starting in early September.

No closure is planned for the Corporate Woods roundabout as a temporary road will be constructed on the northeast corner of the intersection so traffic can still get through the intersection while the roundabout is being built.

Green Engineer Paul Pickett said the Corporate Woods intersection will not be closed completely, but there will be some movements restricted.

He said a closure would allow for the project to move faster, but it is not ideal with all the businesses in the area.

The intersection of Pickle Road and state Route 619 will close for the construction of the roundabout. The intersection is expected to close Aug. 29 and remain closed until Nov. 1.

Pickett said the city has been communicating with the school district to make officials aware of the closure so school buses can be rerouted.

As a part of the Pickle Road roundabout, a water line and a sewer have to be relocated, Pickett said.

The posted detour for westbound traffic on state Route 619 will be state Route 619 to Massillon Road to Interstate 77 to Arlington Road to state Route 619. Eastbound traffic should take state Route 619 to Arlington Road to Interstate 77 to Massillon Road to state Route 619.

Both projects are single lane roundabouts and will cost between $1.2 and $1.5 million to construct. Construction of both projects is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Updates on the projects will be posted at www.cityofgreen.org.
