Summit County deputies say incident was captured on home surveillance video but mother failed to report it.

GREEN  A local couple has been arrested on charges in connection to the sexual assault of a four-year-old boy by his mother's boyfriend and his mother's use of her children's medication.

Summit County Sheriff's deputies arrested Dean A. Davis, 28, on Friday, and Samantha L. Ward, 31, in June, said Inspector Bill Holland.

Deputies first became aware of the assault in April when someone reported that Davis sexually assaulted the child, that the incident was captured on home surveillance video and that the mother knew about it yet failed to report it, Holland said.

A mother of four children ranging in age from 4 to 13, Ward was arrested in June when investigators determined she had been consuming medication belonging to the children. Holland declined to identify the type of medication.

Ward was jailed on charges of felony drug theft and endangering children, and later released after posting bond. But, Holland said, more charges are pending.

Davis wasn't arrested until Friday because it wasn't until recently that they were able to get the video and complete their investigation.

Davis was booked into the Summit County Jail on charges of gross sexual imposition, sexual imposition and endangering children.

The children have since been removed form the home and turned over to Summit County Children's Services.
