JACKSON TWP. The Teens Create program at the Stark County District Library is a yearlong program in which each library branch offers different programming.
This year, the Jackson Township Library has offered a different club for each season of the Tuesday nights throughout the year. In the fall, the library offered a Lego Club for Teens Create; during the winter months it was Murder Mystery Club; spring was the Star Wars Club; and this summer it’s the Kit Club plus Gaming Club and Anime Club.
"We have Kit Club tonight but other Tuesday evenings we have Anime Club and Gaming at the Jackson YMCA," librarian Ellen Doucette said.
There are two special programs offered this summer as well. The first was in June where the participants created video games using Bloxels. On July 10 at the Buehler’s Fresh Market Store, there will be a karaoke contest night.
Doucette was leading the teens through making a bracelet out of duct tape on June 26. She said the library receives a kit that contains all the items needed to make each project. Last week, it was a kit for making duct tape bracelets.
"The kits we get contain all the items needed for the project including this which has all the accessories to make a bracelet," Doucette said.
Participants could sew decorative beads or letter blocks on the bracelets or use permanent markers to draw on the bracelets.
"Part of this project includes sewing and some of the teens have never threaded a needle so this will be a learning experience for them," Doucette said.
Teens grades sixth through 12 are welcome to come to the Tuesday evening events which start at 6:30 p.m. For complete details, visit the Jackson Township Library online at www.starklibrary.org/assets/2018-Summer/SJ-summer-2018.pdf or call 330-833-1010.
