The man was trying to break the phone and hurled two cans of Mountain Dew.

LAKE TWP.  When a Uniontown area man left the house after throwing his 12-year-old son's cellphone and then hurling cans of Mountain Dew at the boy, the boy called police.

Uniontown officers arrested the 34-year-old man, booking him into the jail on a domestic violence charge.

The boy told police that his dad became angry and threw two cans of Mountain Dew at him, striking him in the chest, Stark County Jail records show. The jail records noted two red marks on the boy's chest. The boy also told officers that his dad threw the cellphone in an attempt to break it.

The jail records did not say why the man was reportedly angry.

But police arrested the man at 8 p.m. Tuesday at his home in the 1600 block of Edison Street NW on the misdemeanor charge. The Canton Repository does not typically name misdemeanor crime suspects.

The man was later released after posting a $10,000 bond, pending a Canton Municipal Court hearing.
