While investigating a domestic dispute at a Mayfair Road home June 3, deputies found a 46-year-old man there wanted on a warrant in Stark County for failure to register as a sex offender. He was arrested and turned over to Stark County sheriff’s deputies.

A North Canton woman reported her son’s bicycle was stolen while it was left outside a home on Fox Ridge Drive on June 2. The bike was secured with a lock at the time of the theft.

On June 1, a South Main Street man told deputies someone cut down a tree in his yard and cut the branches on five other trees.

Deputies issued warrants June 1 for a South Arlington Road woman accused of menacing and disorderly conduct. According to a report, four residents at a condominium community said they were on their patios talking when the woman came out and started screaming obscenities at them. She then went back into her condo and began hitting the walls and yelling at people in a neighboring condo. Shortly after, she went outside, where a man said she screamed obscenities at him while he was with his 4-year-old daughter. She also allegedly threatened to kick a man’s service dog if it went on her property. Officers said the woman refused to answer her door.

A Raber Road woman called deputies from a hospital emergency room on June 1 to complain her ex-boyfriend assaulted her. She refused to press charges against the man and the case was closed.

An Akron man, 18, was charged June 1 with underage alcohol consumption and possession of drugs. Deputies said he was found with an open container of liquor and a baggie of marijuana while attending a party at a Mayfair Road country club.

A 71-year-old woman said she was walking on Steese Road when a dog ran out and attacked her. She was taken a hospital for a bite injury to her leg. Charges against the dog’s owner, a Steese Road man, were pending at the time of the report.

An Akron woman, 21, was charged with theft May 31 after she allegedly stole a black tank top, shorts and other clothing items from an Arlington Ridge department store. She was issued a court summons and released.

An Akron woman reported someone stole the rear license plate off her car while she was walking in a park on Cottage Grove Road May 31.

A Caston Road man, 32, was arrested May 31 on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a felony drug possession charge. During a routine pat down, he was found with a hypodermic needle in his pocket. He was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and taken to the Summit County Jail on the warrant.

An Akron man, 57, was arrested May 30 for assaulting a Springfield Township woman during an altercation at a Mayfair Road home. EMS treated the woman for minor injuries.

COVENTRY TOWNSHIP

A Barberton man, 31, was booked into the Summit County Jail June 1 on a charge of burglary, a third-degree felony. Deputies said he was found inside his ex-wife’s Cox Drive home where he allegedly broke a window screen to get inside.

A Kent man, 41, was arrested at a South Arlington Road gaming parlor June 1 on a warrant charging him with aggravated possession of drugs. The arrest was originally made by Springfield Township police. The man was turned over to sheriff’s deputies and taken to the Summit County Jail.

A Coventry Township man reported his pickup truck was stolen while he left it running outside a Manchester Road fast food restaurant on May 31. The vehicle was later found abandoned on East Waterloo Road.

NEW FRANKLIN

On June 2, police responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle traveling in the area of South 7th Avenue. Shortly after, an officer stopped a car matching the description and found the driver, a 20-year-old Akron woman, with a suspended license. A computer check showed she had been convicted twice for driving under suspension in the past three years. She was charged a third time for the offense and her car was towed.

A West Nimisila Road man, 43, was booked into the Summit County Jail June 1 on charges of domestic violence and disrupting public services. His girlfriend told police the day before the man hit her on the head with a flashlight and broke her phone so she couldn’t call for help. During a second incident on the day of the report, she said he punched her in the head and arm, causing her to fall. Officers noted a bruise on the woman’s left arm and abrasions on her head.

On May 31, a Tweed Drive woman told police someone gained access to her bank account and withdrew $2,000. At around the same time, she said a company named Edify called her and said she owed them $300. She sent the money via an iTunes card. Her bank later refunded her the $2,000 taken from her account but declined to refund the $300.

While investigating a domestic dispute at a North 4th Avenue home May 29, police discovered a 25-year-old man there wanted on a felony warrant in Troy for a parole violation. The man was arrested and taken to the Summit County Jail to await extradition.

A South Oval Drive man reported May 29 that someone stole $200 worth of makeup from his wife’s car.

Police investigating a disabled car on West Caston Road May 27 found a male passenger wanted on a felony warrant in Medina County. The 21-year-old was arrested and turned over to sheriff’s deputies in that jurisdiction.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 

On June 4, a Ronald Road man reported a 2007 Honda minivan was stolen from his driveway. His brother reported someone had broken into his van and stole numerous tools. The next day, police received a tip the stolen minivan was abandoned on Myersville Road. Two men were later arrested by Summit County sheriff’s deputies in connection with the theft.

On the same day, another resident on Ronald Road reported finding a large scratch on his car’s right front fender. He also discovered his girlfriend’s debit card was taken from the vehicle and used at three separate locations.

An Akron woman, 20, was charged with theft June 4 after she was accused of leaving a South Arlington Road department store with $154 in merchandise without paying.

On June 3, an employee at a South Arlington Road restaurant reported finding a window broken on her car after she got off work that evening. Damage was estimated at $300.

A homeless man, 53, was charged with criminal damaging June 3. Police said he went to his sister’s Beach Drive home, where he is not welcome, and began yelling and kicking the front door. He ended up breaking a window. Police said the man had been warned numerous times in the past to stay off the property.

On June 2, a Laverne Lane woman reported finding a storm window broken on a side door and believes someone has been entering the home over the past couple weeks and taking things. She also found a push mower missing from the shed. She believes her ex-boyfriend, who was served a protection order three days before, is responsible.

An Arcadia Road woman reported June 1 that she returned home to find someone had broken into the rear door. She discovered $1,250 in cash was missing from a bedroom closet.

Four men and two women, all Springfield Township residents, were charged with disorderly conduct May 30 after police said they were involved in large fight outside a Seneca Trail home.
