GREEN City Council May 8 approved eminent domain action to be taken on two roundabout projects set to begin this year.
The two ordinances instituted appropriation proceedings against various property owners for the State Route 619/Pickle Road roundabout and Corporate Wood Circle/Corporate Woods Parkway roundabout.
The ordinances allow the city to move forward with eminent domain proceedings with property owners adjacent to the planned roundabouts. The ordinance states that the city has been unable to reach agreement with the respective property owners and Green City Council "authorizes legal counsel to take the legal action necessary, including filing a lawsuit, to appropriate and obtain possession of" the properties in question.
Council also approved a resolution authorizing the trade in of three riding lawn mowers for $2,500 to offset the cost of a Hustler MDV four-wheel-drive utility vehicle with a snow plow feature. The plowing package, Service Director Valerie Wax Carr said in a memo to Council, will allow the city to return a 1-ton truck to the snow recovery fleet to concentrate on roads rather than parking lots.
