JACKSON TWP. The 16th annual Vintage Jackson fundraiser presented by the Rotary Club of Jackson Township is scheduled for April 20 at the Shady Hollow Country Club in Jackson. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Proceeds this year will go to funding a specially designed bicycle that allows a person in a wheelchair be able to ride a bike along with approximately $4,000 going to scholarships to students at Jackson Local Schools.
John Weston chairs this year’s event. He said the event generally raises between $15,000 to $18,000.
"In addition to the scholarships, we’ll be donating some of the proceeds to the First Christian Church of Plain Township for a specially equipped bicycle," Weston said. "This year, we’ll have 36 different wines from Heidelberg featuring Treasury Estates Family of Wine plus Gervasi Vineyard will feature six of their wines. Shale Brewing Company will have craft beers there which this will be the first time we’ve had them at the event," he said.
Waggoners Chocolates will be offering chocolates and Shady Hollow will have the meat carving table and desserts. The traditional silent auction and cork pull will be held.
"For the price, our event includes a lot such as the wine tasting, the craft beers, the food and desserts. Funds raised go to help those in need in the area where we all work, live and play," Weston said.
The Rotary Club of Jackson Township has 45 members. Rotary’s mission is service in the community, in the workplace and around the globe.
Tickets for the event can be purchased from any of the Rotary members or through the website at www.jacksonrotaryfoundation.com.
