Three people were arrested on warrants on March 12. A Canton man, 25, was arrested at a Miles Avenue residence on a warrant charging him with burglary. A Navarre woman, 33, was taken into custody on a Massillon Municipal Court warrant for possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony. A Canton man, 21, was picked up on Fulton Drive on a warrant for domestic violence. All three were booked into the Stark County Jail.

Police were called to investigate a burglary March 12 at a home in the 8000 block of Parkford Street Northwest. A safe, Social Security card and $7,000 in cash were reported stolen.

Police responded to a fight at a Wales Avenue drive-in restaurant on March 12. A Bay Village man said another man struck him in the face several times during an argument. The Bay Village man declined to press charges and the case was closed.

Police were called to assist Perry Township police with an eviction at a Woodlawn Avenue apartment building March 12. A 49-year-old man was arrested at the scene on a theft warrant and released to Perry Township police.

An Orchardway Avenue man, 37, was charged March 11 with domestic violence. Police said he attempted to harm his wife with a 40-pound dumbbell during an argument. The woman was not injured. The man fled the scene before officers arrived but was picked up a couple hours later by Springfield Township police.

A Massillon man, 52, was charged with felony criminal trespassing March 11. Police said he broke into an Echo Glenn Street home where he once lived by breaking a window on a rear door. Police found him sleeping in a downstairs bedroom.

A Canton woman, 33, was charged March 11 with theft and obstructing official business. She is accused of leaving a Strip Avenue supermarket with stolen merchandise and running from a police officer.

A Mariwood Drive man told police his bank informed him that someone used his identity to set up fraudulent bank accounts in his name. He learned the activity started two years ago.

A Tallmadge man, 28, was charged March 11 with disorderly conduct. Officers were called to a Dressler Road bar where they were told the man became intoxicated and got into a fight with several bouncers.

A man, 35, and a woman, 45, both of Akron, were arrested March 10 on charges of theft, aggravated possession of drugs (a fifth-degree felony), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said the two left a Dressler Road department store with $280 in merchandise hidden in the woman’s purse. During their arrest, they were found in possession of methamphetamine and a short straw, police said.

Police arrested two Canton women for shoplifting in separate incidents on March 9. A woman was seen putting items in a bag at a Mega Street department store and leaving without paying for them. In the other incident at a Dressler Road department store, the woman attempted to leave without paying for shirts, pants and shoes worth over $200. 

On March 8, police were called twice to an Everhard Road hotel after a New Jersey man reportedly got drunk in the bar and tried to pick fights with several people. During the first call, officers escorted the man back to his room and warned him not to return to the bar. When officers were called the second time and found the man in the bar, they arrested him for disorderly conduct.

A Diamondback Avenue man told police March 8 that someone used his identity to secure a loan for $2,519.87.

A wallet, four credit cards and seven Pier One dishes, total value $255, were reported stolen March 8 from an unlocked vehicle in the 1200 block of Concord Street Northwest.

An employee at a Wales Avenue storage facility told police March 8 that someone entered the fenced-in area using a lock code and once inside attempted to break into three storage units. Nothing was reported taken.

A Plymouth Street woman reported March 8 someone used her bank account information to charge purchases to a business in Pittsburgh. She recently changed her bank account information but later discovered the same business accessed the new account and made additional purchases. The charges totaled $812.

A Radcliffe Avenue man told police March 8 that someone used his personal information to open a credit account. Fraudulent charges made on the account totaled $6,753.73.

On March 7, a Meadowview Drive man reported a personal check and two phones were stolen from his home. He later learned the check was forged and cashed for $300 at a local bank.

A Canton man, 25, was charged March 7 with domestic violence and disrupting public services. Police said the man put his girlfriend in a chokehold during an argument and took her phone so she couldn’t call for help.

A Lasater Street Northwest man, 56, turned himself in to police on March 7on a warrant charging him with domestic violence. He was arrested and booked into the Stark County Jail.

Police investigated an attempted burglary at a Carnegie Avenue Northwest home March 6. The homeowner reported a breezeway door was damaged during an attempt to break in over the weekend.

Police recovered a 2013 Cadillac from a Portage Street Northwest travel center on March 6. The vehicle had been reported stolen by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office.

A Vineyard Avenue realtor filed a police report March 6 after discovering four checks from her business were forged and cashed for a total of $8,342.57. Police were investigating.
