SPRINGFIELD TWP. The Springfield Board of Trustees discussed two possible nuisance abatement properties during its Feb. 22 regualar meeting.
Trustees approved moving forward on abatement for the property located at 1902 Knight Road. Photographs taken on Feb. 22 showed there was no improvement on the amount of trash and debris. Proper documents were previously sent to the property owners. Under the provisions of the Ohio Revised Code, trustees approved the abatement of the property.
Abatement was postponed at the Feb. 8 meeting for a property at 2344 Mishler Ave. due to the fact that progress had been made to clean up the property. Pictures taken Feb. 22 showed that the clean up was taken care of.
Residents thanked the trustees for making the decision for a community wide trash hauler. They said it was easy to call and make the change and it saves them a good amount of money per month.
Trustee Deborah Davis went over the costs and procedures for residents to sign up for the service. Even if residents are current Republic customers they must call and sign up. She said to make sure that they say they are in Springfield Township in Summit County as there are multiple Springfield Townships in Ohio. Republic will give options for trash and recycling receptacles. The cost is $48 per quarter and for those 65 and over the cost per quarter is $43.20 and both include recycling. The number to call is 1-800-247-3644.
The next regular meeting of the trustees will be at 6 p.m., Thursday at Town Hall on Canfield Road.
