A New Franklin man, 18, was charged with theft Feb. 26 after he allegedly stole a $125 ring from a display at a Dressler Road department store. Store security said the man was seen on closed-circuit TV taking the ring out of a box and putting it in his pocket.

On Feb. 25, a Waverly Drive man reported someone drove up his driveway and threw a large rock through a window at his home and shot at another window with a BB gun. Police were investigating.

A Strongsville woman, 19, was charged with underage alcohol consumption Feb. 25 after police found her passed out in the lobby of a Freedom Avenue hotel. She was issued a court summons and released to her parents.

A Malabu Avenue woman reported Feb. 24 that someone entered her unlocked car and stole her wallet and several IDs.

A Canton man, 24, was charged Feb. 24 with disorderly conduct by intoxication. Police said they found the man passed out in a motel lobby on Sunset Strip Avenue Northwest.

A 37-year-old Canton man wanted on three theft warrants out of Massillon Municipal Court was arrested Feb. 24. The man was picked up during a traffic stop in Youngstown by Mahoning County sheriff’s deputies. He was released to Jackson Township police and taken to the Stark County Jail.

On Feb. 22, a clerk at a Dressler Road store called police after a man came in and tried to sell an item she believed to be stolen. An officer issued a trespass warning to the man and released him to Canton police on warrants.

A Massillon man, 56, was charged Feb. 22 with theft and criminal trespass. Police said he left a Dressler Road store with a bottle of Southern Comfort whiskey hidden inside his jacket. The cost of the item was $12. The man had been banned from the store for a previous offense.

A Farrell, Pa., man reported two subwoofers and a backpack worth a total of $180 were stolen from his unlocked car while he was inside a Mega Street movie theater Feb. 22.

A 35-year-old Canton man was arrested at Lake Cable Elementary School on Feb. 22 after he went there to pick up his son. According to reports, a school counselor asked an officer working special detail at the school to be present when the man picked up his son. The officer ran a background check on the man and discovered he had a warrant in Stark County. The man was arrested and turned over to sheriff’s deputies.

During a traffic stop for an equipment violation on Dressler Road Feb. 22, police arrested a 29-year-old Akron man for possession of marijuana. He was issued a court summons and released.

Jewelry valued at $20,500 was reported stolen Feb. 21 during a burglary at a home in the 3900 block of Mesa Circle Northwest.

While investigating a disturbance at the Belden Village Mall Feb. 21, police arrested a 31-year-old Akron woman on a warrant for passing bad checks. She was released to Cuyahoga Falls police.

A man drove off without paying for $29 worth of gas at a Wales Avenue gas station on Feb. 21. A clerk said the man tried to pay with a credit card but when it was declined, he left without paying.

A Louisville woman, 44, was charged with assault after she was accused of punching a woman in the eye during a fight on Everhard Road Feb. 20. She was issued a court summons and released.

Two vehicles parked at a home in the 4100 block of Independence Circle Northwest were reported broken into Feb. 20. Stolen items worth over $1,000 included a 9mm handgun, various tools and a computer.

An employee at a Wales Avenue doctor’s office reported Feb. 20 that someone broke into her car and stole her purse. A window was shattered to gain entry.

An Akron man, 36, was charged Feb. 19 with two counts of public indecency. Two women told police they saw the man masturbating while sitting at a computer at Stark State College.
