LAKE TWP. The Lake Township Chamber of Commerce named a new president in mid-December. Erin Szekeres comes to the Chamber with enthusiasm, business experience and a mission of building on the existing foundation.
Szekeres is also the owner of Erin’s Euphoria Salon and Wellness Center in Hartville. She is a stylist and yoga instructor. She’s also on the board of directors for the Canton Ballet and has helped with several special events for the ballet.
She is a mom to her 10-year-old daughter, Giada, and nine-year-old son, Rocco, and is married to husband, Nick. Her husband is part of a family owned construction, restoration and landscaping company.
The family has lived in Hartville for seven years. She grew up in Plain Township. Szekeres said her focus is to continue the legacy of the Lake Township Chamber and bring members and the community together.
"We have 300 members right now from Uniontown, Green and Hartville and some members from North Canton, Alliance and Akron," Szekeres said. "Our members do a great job of supporting the many events the chamber holds throughout the year. My goal is to continue bringing the members and community together and work together. It’s always better to work with each other versus competing against each other."
One of the events held every year is the Leadership Awards Dinner. This year, it was held Feb. 27 at the Hartville Kitchen.
The 2017 award winners include the following:
Chamber Impact: Matthew Erb, Lake Realty
Community Service: Keli Viscounte, Rivertree Lake Christian Church
Educational Leader: Sheryl Roberts, Lake Center Christian School
New Business of the Year: Alyson Oser and Julie Bishop, Eatz and Treatz
Outstanding Business Professional: Pamela Moore, Moore Than Coffee
Szekeres said the Chamber hosts or collaborates on a number of events such as a networking meeting twice a month, ribbon cuttings for new business, One Bite in the fall and the Easter Egg Hunt with Rivertree Christian Church in the spring.
There are 15 board of directors for the Lake Township Chamber. Chairman of the Board Matt Erb published a statement the future of the chamber, "We, as the Lake Township Chamber of Commerce board of directors, have a responsibility to lead and fulfill our mission as we serve the business community. Looking ahead, we see great opportunity and we are committed to moving forward with momentum, continuing to serve and make decisions in the best interest of our members."
Szekeres agreed, saying "Part of the Chamber’s mission is to create a positive environment, promote success and growth of local business while reflecting the values of the community. I see the entire community growing with an up-and-coming generation. I’m excited to be able to watch the continued growth and success of the community and the Chamber."
