On Feb. 4, a Canton woman called police to report a man she knows walked up behind her and spit in her hair. The alleged incident took place outside a Portage Street Northwest restaurant.

Police responded to a "smash and grab" incident in the parking lot of a Hills and Dales Road business Feb. 3. A purse containing $110, a debit card and driver’s license was reported stolen.

On Feb. 2, a Limerick Avenue resident told police a man came over his house and bought shoes and other items from him that totaled $1,450. After the man left, the resident discovered the man paid him in counterfeit $50 bills.

An employee at a Fulton Drive bank told police Feb. 2 that she received a letter from an unknown person that contained sexually oriented material.

A Shaftsbury Drive woman reported someone broke the sunroof on her car and grabbed her purse on Feb. 2. On the same day, a Stuhldreher Street woman reported someone broke a window on her car and rifled the inside but didn’t take anything.

On Feb. 1, a South Boulevard woman told police a man who lives in her apartment building has been harassing her for the past year. She said he almost hit her several times as she was walking down the street and has shown up numerous times at her workplace. Police were investigating.

A Pennsylvania man, 35, was charged Feb. 1 with criminal damaging. Police said he was asked to leave a Munson Street gentlemen’s club after becoming intoxicated. While leaving, he allegedly punched two vehicles in the parking lot, causing about $1,000 in damages. He was arrested and booked into the Stark County Jail.

Police investigated a report of vandalism at a Portage Street Northwest business Feb. 1. Someone broke a window and took down the American flag outside the building, leaving it on the ground.

A Canton man, 39, was arrested Feb. 1 on a warrant charging him with failure to appear on a domestic violence charge. Police discovered the warrant during a traffic stop on University Avenue. The man was turned over to a Stark County sheriff’s deputy.

A Canton woman reported her purse was stolen while she was trying on clothing in a store at the Belden Village Mall on Feb. 1.

An Akron woman told police she accidentally left her wallet on top of the trunk of her car after entering a Dressler Road restaurant Jan. 31. When she realized what she did, she went out to retrieve the wallet, but it was gone.

Police were called to investigate a burglary/vandalism incident at two businesses on Whipple Avenue Jan. 31. Someone broke into one of the businesses and clogged a sink, causing a large amount of water to overflow. Extensive damage was reported to the business as well as the business directly below it.

A North Canton woman said she was inside a physical fitness center when someone smashed her car window and grabbed her purse.

A Canton man reported his wallet was stolen from his unlocked vehicle while he was inside a Whipple Avenue physical fitness center Jan. 30. He later learned the thief used one of his credit cards at a local gas station. He also discovered an endorsed check he had inside the wallet was cashed by the thief who used his driver’s license as identification.

An Akron woman, 22, was charged Jan. 29 with disorderly conduct. According to reports, the woman left a Strip Avenue restaurant highly intoxicated and was seen walking through traffic in a heavy snowfall. Police located her shortly after. She reportedly told officers she wanted to jump off a nearby bridge. She was taken to a local hospital for a mental evaluation.

Police investigated a burglary at a home in the 2300 block of Broadhaven Avenue Northwest Jan. 29. An engagement ring valued at $16,500, seven firearms and numerous other items were reported stolen. Total value of the missing property was listed at $28,400.

A Canton woman stopped on Dressler Road Jan. 28 for a headlight violation was found with a warrant for failure to pay a city income tax. She was released to Canton police.

A Galena Avenue Northwest man, 30, was arrested at his home Jan. 27 on warrants charging him with aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and misdemeanor possession of drugs. He was taken to the Stark County Jail and booked.

An elderly Hillway Avenue woman was scammed out of $2,000 after responding to a caller who said her granddaughter was in an accident in the Dominican Republic and needed money wired to get her out of jail.

A Clinton woman reported a man exposed his genitals to her while she was in a computer lab at Stark State College on Jan. 25.
