Groundhogs Day

The beginning of February offers a few days of attention for groundhogs. Local celebrity and Stark Parks’ resident groundhog, General Stark II, will be one of the main attractions at the Groundhog Day Open House at Quail Hollow Park in Hartville to see what these whistle-pigs are all about. From 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 3, meet General Stark II while you tour the Nature Center and learn about groundhogs. There will also be games, groundhog-themed tales and create your own paper groundhog to take home. Kids can imagine what it’s like to be one of these land-beavers as they crawl through a groundhog tunnel. This event is free and no registration is required. Quail Hollow Park is at 13480 Congress Lake Ave. in Hartville. The park is on the east side of the road about one mile north of Edison Street/Rt. 619.
