A 31-year-old Akron man wanted on eight warrants was arrested at an apartment on Mayfair Road on Dec. 16. The warrants, mostly for felonies, included charges for aggravated possession of drugs, safecracking, three counts of theft, and domestic violence. During his arrest, the man was found in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, deputies said. He was charged for those offenses and taken to the Summit County Jail.

An East Turkeyfoot Lake Road business owner told deputies Dec. 16 that someone altered four company checks, then forged and cashed them for a total of $9,679.

Thieves broke into a construction trailer at a Skyview Drive worksite Dec. 14-15 and stole more than $12,000 worth of tools and equipment.

On Dec. 13, a Massillon Road woman reported she was physically assaulted by a male friend at her apartment. The woman, who is pregnant, was treated by EMS at the scene. She declined to press charges but asked the man be warned not to return to her residence. An officer told the man he would be charged with criminal trespass if he was found again on the woman’s property.

An East Turkeyfoot Road man, 33, was arrested Dec. 13 on felony counts of receiving stolen property and possession of drugs. Deputies said they found the man in possession of a Ford pickup truck that had been reported stolen in Cuyahoga Falls. During a pat-down, deputies found a white powder on him that he reportedly admitted was methamphetamine.

On Dec. 11, a Sunnyview Drive woman told deputies she received a call from someone in New Jersey who said her grandson was in trouble and needed $5,000 to get out of jail. The woman did not send the money and later found her grandson was at his job in Columbus.

According to a Dec. 8 report, an unknown man walked on to the property of a closed Pickle Road business on Nov. 23 and began shooting at the windows with a BB gun.  Seven windows were destroyed, causing an estimated $1,800 in damages.

COVENTRY TOWNSHIP

During a traffic stop on South Main Street Dec. 16, deputies arrested a 52-year-old Akron woman after discovering she had five warrants out on her. The warrants, out of Akron, Norton and Springfield Township, were on charges for theft, criminal trespass, criminal damaging and possession of criminal tools.

A Bay Path Drive woman reported Dec. 13 someone used her personal information to make $871 in purchases on her debit card.

NEW FRANKLIN

Police were called to investigate a burglary at a home at a N. Messner Road home Dec. 16. Jewelry, DJ equipment, a TV and miscellaneous tools were among the items reported stolen. A 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer that was parked in the driveway was also taken.

A Manchester Road man, 27, was charged Dec. 15 with domestic violence. Police said he punched his girlfriend in the mouth and slapped her twice in the face during an altercation at their home. Prior to his arrest, the man was taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation after police learned he threatened to harm himself with a knife during the incident.

On Dec. 14, a Swigart Road woman told police a husband and wife were staying at her home for the last several weeks. Before they left, they stole the keys to her van, she said. Police were investigating.

On Dec. 12, a McTweed Lane woman called police after she saw two male juveniles in her driveway, one with what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband. One of the boys had threatened to kill the woman’s son in a text message. Officers arriving on the scene found the one boy with an Airsoft pistol, along with a knife in his sleeve. Both teens were arrested and taken to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center. In an interview, the boy without the pistol told police the woman’s son threatened to physically harm him in a text message a month ago, and produced the message on his phone. The woman’s son was charged and released to his mother with a court summons.

Two residents of a S. Turkeyfoot Road home reported packages were stolen from their front porch Dec. 11.

A 33-year-old Akron man was arrested Dec. 11 for violation of a protection order. Police said they found him in a car with the protected party during a traffic stop on Midland Avenue. He was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail.

A woman told police someone in a passing car threw a Gatorade bottle at her vehicle as she was traveling on Grove Road Dec. 10. She later found a large hole in the front grill with the bottle inside.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP

On Dec. 18, an Uber driver called police after an intoxicated man hit him outside an Arlington Road gas station. The driver declined to file assault charges. Police charged the 27-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man with disorderly conduct and released him with a court summons.

An Akron woman, 28, was charged Dec. 17 with theft and possession of drug abuse instruments. Police said she was seen stuffing towels in her purse at a South Arlington Road department store and leaving without paying for them. The towels along with a hypodermic needle were found in her purse, police said.

Police are looking for two men who robbed a woman of $80 in the parking lot of a South Arlington Road restaurant Dec. 15. The woman told police she was smoking a cigarette outside when two men came from behind her and struck her on the head. When she fell to the ground, they kicked her, then grabbed her coin purse and fled.

A North Canton man reported Dec. 15 that someone broke into his storage unit at a Shanafelt Avenue storage facility. Thirteen video game systems, along with controllers and game cartridges, were stolen.

A Kennedy Road business owner told police Dec. 15 that someone cut a chain-link fence on his property and stole two propane tanks worth at $440.

A Dodge Ram Cargo van valued at $18,000 was reported stolen Dec. 15 from a location on Chenoweth Road. Police entered the van into a national database for stolen vehicles.

LAKEMORE

On Dec. 20, a clerk at a Canton Road store told police while she was outside on break she observed a woman loading three trash cans and a bag of cat litter into her vehicle and drive off without paying. The clerk took down the woman’s license plate number. She confirmed with the other clerks that the woman hadn’t paid for the merchandise.

Police responded to a domestic dispute at a Wilson Avenue home Dec. 19. A Mayfair Road woman said a man at the home grabbed her by the hair and dragged her into the kitchen. The man said the woman, his ex-wife, got upset while they were discussing child custody and reacted by punching him and scratching him in the face. The officer observed marks on both. Since no primary aggressor could be determined, no charges were filed. Both parties were advised to consult with the county prosecutor.

A homeless man, 42, was arrested at a First Street location on Dec. 17 on two outstanding warrants out of Springfield Township. He was picked up by township police and taken to the Summit County Jail.

An 83-year-old Florida woman reported her purse was stolen while she was at a Canton Road gaming parlor Dec. 13. Three credit cards and two IDs were inside the purse.
