LAKEMORE  Village Council held its last meeting of the year to finalize end of the year business.

Ordinances and resolutions that were passed included a resolution with Summit County in the litigation against individuals and entities related to the marketing, prescribing, distribution or sale of opiods. Also passed was a resolution authorizing the mayor to enter into a contract with the Summit County Public Defender’s Commission for defense of indigents in the Akron Municipal Court for the period of Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2018.

An ordinance to make appropriations for current expenses and other expenditures of the village during the year ending Dec. 31, 2018 was approved.

Also approved was an ordinance to amend previous ordinances to make appropriations for current expenses and other expenditures of the village during fiscal year ending Dec. 31.

A resolution confirming the mayor’s appointment of Laura Cochran, Anne Snyder, two members from the fire department and Clarence Bittner as board members of the volunteer fire fighter’s dependents fund for 2018 was approved.

A resolution was read for the first time requesting that the Summit County fiscal Officer make an advanced payment of tax funds for tax year 2017 payable in 2018 to the village treasury. Final read will be Jan. 18, 2018.

Council voted to pass a resolution to enter into a lease agreement with Ellet Eliminators Association for the use of fields at Hinton-Humiston memorial Waterworks Park will be read for the third time Jan. 18.

Mayor Rick Justice said the library is slated to open in late January 2018.

Justice presented longtime councilwoman Tammie Coontz with a certificate of appreciation as she will no longer be on Lakemore Council. Councilman Chad Lance thanked Coontz for teaching and helping him for the time he has been on council.

Coontz was given the honor to make a motion to adjourn the meeting for the last time.

Frank Chenoweth representing Spectrum announced that the local access channel is no longer available on channel 15, but can be seen on cable channel 1023.

The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m., Jan. 2, 2018 at the Municipal Building.
