On Nov. 27, a Burgundy Avenue man told police a business acquaintance was harassing him with unwanted text messages and phone calls. He said this all started over a soured business deal. Police contacted the acquaintance and advised to him to cease all communication with the Burgundy Avenue man and to consult with an attorney about the business matter.

A Canton woman, 54, was arrested for stealing $107 worth of merchandise from an Everhard Road store on Nov. 27. She was caught concealing the items in her purse.

An Akron man, 24, was charged Nov. 26 with domestic violence. Police said he assaulted the mother of his child during an argument at a Lasater Street home, leaving her with a visible injury. Officers found the man hiding in the bushes outside the home.

A Canton man, 43, was arrested on a theft warrant Nov. 26 after being pulled over on Everhard Road for driving with expired tags. He was released to Holmes County sheriff’s deputies.

On Nov. 25, police responded to a call of a highly intoxicated man causing a disturbance at a Hills and Dales Road bar. Officers arriving on the scene found the man stumbling in the street outside the business. Police charged the 23-year-old with disorderly conduct by intoxication and released him to a responsible party.

Four vehicles parked at a Whipple Avenue muffler shop were broken into between Nov. 23 and 25. The owners of the vehicles were preparing inventories of stolen items at the time of the report. 

Police picked up a 33-year-old Barberton man at the Summit County Jail on Nov. 25 on a Jackson warrant charging him with possession of criminal tools. He was transported to the Stark County Jail and booked.

A Hills and Dales Road woman told police that sometime between Nov. 13 and 25, someone took her credit card without her permission and used it for $3,000 worth of purchases. She suspects a family member.

A Canton woman, 33, of Miles Avenue Northwest, was charged Nov. 24 with domestic violence. Police said she pushed her boyfriend into the furniture and kicked and threw some pieces of furniture around their apartment. The man had a small laceration on his right arm.

A Whipple Avenue business owner told police Nov. 24 that an employee forgot to lock a company vehicle and as a result someone stole a business credit card, which was later used for several unauthorized transactions.

Police were told a man ran out of a Portage Street home improvement store on Nov. 24 with a $400 chainsaw he did not pay for.

Police were called to investigate a burglary at a home in the 7600 block of Peyton Street Northwest on Nov. 24. Three TVs, numerous electronics, clothing, shoes and $1,200 in cash, total value $12,675, were reported stolen.

On Nov. 23, police were called to assist the fire department with a vehicle fire on 20th Street Northwest. Police determined the vehicle had been reported stolen in Canton.

Police are looking for two men who loaded a shopping cart with 14 drones at a Whipple Avenue store on Nov. 22 and left without paying for them. The value of the items was listed at $933.38. The store reported a total of 53 drones valued at more than $3,500 had been stolen over the past week.

Deputies investigated a one-vehicle crash on Strip Avenue Northwest on Nov. 22. A 28-year-old Massillon woman was charged with having an open container after a half empty bottle of beer was found in her car.

An Akron woman reported someone stole her phone, car keys and $160 from her purse while she was at a Dressler Road bar on Nov. 22. She tracked the phone to a nearby hotel, but police were unable to find a suspect. On the same evening, a New Philadelphia man reported a $1,000 laptop was stolen from his unlocked car while he was dining at a Portage Street restaurant.

An Alliance woman reported someone stole the temporary license tag off her car while she was at work on Whipple Avenue on Nov. 22.

A Canton woman reported someone stole her cell phone while she was working a self-checkout aisle at a Mega Street department store on Nov. 22.

On Nov. 21, police were called to investigate suspicious activity in a business parking lot on Fulton Drive. A man identified as a 20-year-old from Green was found sitting in a car inhaling marijuana from a glass bong in the center console. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released with a court summons.

A Barberton man, 35, was charged with theft Nov. 21 after he was accused of stealing a $14 package of hair ties from a Dressler Road department store. He was arrested and taken to the Stark County Jail after police discovered he had a theft warrant from the department.

Three pairs of sunglasses with a total value of more than $1,000 were reported stolen Nov. 21 from a store in the Belden Village Mall.

A secretary at an Everhard Road doctor’s office called police Nov. 21 to report a former employee came into the business on two separate occasions after being told not to return. Police were investigating.
