NORTH CANTON Danbury Senior Living, 181 Applegrove St. NE will be holding its 6th annual Festival of Trees from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. the week of Nov. 12. Local businesses and community members will be donating decorated, artificial trees which will be displayed for a silent auction. The proceeds from the auction will benefit "Honor Flight for Veterans" organization.
One contributor, Sallie Louise (Bechtel) Hoy, has donated a tree to honor her father, Glen Bechtel, and her mother, Dorothy. Bechtel is a WWII veteran who taught his children the value of conserving the beauty of the earth by repairing, fixing and or blending old items to "remake" rather than buying new.
Hoy created her tree to donate using several recycled and upcycled items. It is especially dear to her heart that the proceeds will go to the Honor Flight for Veterans since her father was able to take that flight a few years ago and had said often that "it was the best day of his life".
Danbury’s goal is to raise $5,000 this year. For more information about donating a tree or participating in the silent auction, call 330-497-8718 or visit www.danburyseniorliving.com.
