Rudy comes to town
Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger will speak at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Canton Palace Theatre, 605 Market Ave. N, for the Stark County Library's Speaking of Books Author Series. The series brings acclaimed writers to Stark County who inspire lively discussion and community conversation while exemplifying literary excellence. His book, "Rudy: My Story," chronicles the former Notre Dame football player’s story of fierce determination and the twenty-seven seconds that changed his life.
Summit Metro Parks rangers are hosting an open house for individuals ages 16 to 20 who are interested in a new Explorers program. The event is held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Coventry Oaks Lodge in Firestone Metro Park, 40 Axline Ave. Beginning the third Wednesday of each month, learn CPR and first aid plus the ins and outs of being a park ranger, including patrolling on foot and on bike; how the criminal justice system works; and more. The average time commitment will be two hours per month, and each participant will be expected to complete up to six, 8-hour community service projects per year.
