GREEN For the first time since 1995, the city has revised and updated its historic preservation commission code. The primary change to the code is an increase in the fine for demolition or alteration of an historical building from $100 to $500.
Councilman At-large and rules and personnel committee chairman Stephen Dyer said apart from clarifying certain duties of the commission, the increase in fines represents the biggest change to the code.
"This was an adjustment suggested to us by the preservation commission and it only increases the fine – it (does not change) the mechanism to arrive at that," Stephen Dyer said.
No need for liquor license hearing
Council members also voted against holding a hearing on a request by Latino Bar and Grille, formerly Mariachi Grill, at 3430 S. Arlington Road, to obtain a new liquor license.
Public safety committee chairman Skip Summerville said the city had received "no complaints with this liquor license" in the past.
