LAKE TWP.  The Lake Local Board of Education approved the purchase of real estate at 488 Market Ave. N for $90,000 plus closing costs and other adjustments during its regular meeting on Oct. 16.

Superintendent Kevin Tobin said the property is across from the middle school complex and will initially be used for parking.

"We plan to make it a gravel parking area in the short term, long term we are open to ideas for the use of it," Tobin said.

Tobin said it could be used for an athletic facility or administrative uses.

OTHER ACTIONS: 

- Held the monthly Hartville Lion’s Club, Uniontown Lion’s Club and the Lake Board of Education recognition program. The following students and staff were recognized: Jakob Hollis and Kate Ford, 3rd grade; Ava Hackman and Ryan Bowers, 5th grade; Kayle Neill and Aaron Hess, 8th grade; and Sydni Doyle and Andrew Miller, 12th grade. Also, recognized Molly Howson, teacher of the month; Travis Stein, employee of the month; and Krista Hackman, volunteer of the month.

- Recognized Kiel Gallina for his District 8 Teacher of the Year award.

- Approved a list of winter sports coaches including swimming, wrestling, cross country and girls and boys basketball.

- Accepted the following donation: $5,825 from the Lake Athletic Booster Club for the purchase of a Gator Utility Vehicle.
