SPRINGFIELD TWP.  The Springfield Township Board of Trustees held a special meeting at 6 p.m. Oct. 5 at the JEDD Park Sports Complex, 2275 Pickle Road. The purpose of the meeting was to hear resident’s concerns and provide an update on township programs

The meeting also included information on levies for the Springfield Police Department and the township’s Parks and Recreation Department, which are appearing on the Nov. 7 General Election Ballot.

In conducted business during the meeting, trustees:

- Authorized the vice chairman of the board to sign the acceptance of an Engagement Letter from the Isaac Wiles law firm to represent the township in the Stark County Court of Common Pleas Court.

- Removed part-time firefighter/EMTs Jamie Chapman and Jaret Riockich from probationary status at an hourly rate of $15.21.

- Authorized a payment to Goodyear Commercial Tire and Service in the amount of $1,054.96 for the replacement and repairs to the tire on the Ford Tractor.

- Approved a motion from Trustee Dean Young to approve a contract with CT Consultants in the amount of $20,000 for development of a Spartan Trail Master Plan.

The annual Firefighter Pancake Breakfast and food drive donations will be held Nov. 11 at the fire department from  8:30 am to 11 a.m. Cost is a donation of canned goods.

The next regular trustees meeting will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, at the Town Hall located on Canfield Road.
