On Sept. 25, a Lake O’ Springs Avenue woman told police a person she has a protection order against entered her home and stole three drawings valued at $6,000. Police were investigating.

A Saybrook Avenue man reported Sept. 25 that someone used his identity to file a fraudulent income tax return.

A Canal Place woman, 59, was charged Sept. 24 with aggravated arson, arson, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Police said she ignited a fire inside her home after becoming angry with her husband. Township fire personnel responded to put out the blaze. Officers found the woman in a highly intoxicated state in the woods behind her house. She refused to follow officers’ orders and resisted while they attempted to place in her handcuffs, police said.

Police responded to complaints of a loud party on Michael Drive Sept. 24. Three women, all under the age of 21, were charged with underage consumption. Police said they found no one at the party over the age of 21.

A Canal Place man reported someone scratched the hood and right front fender on his car during the overnight hours of Sept. 23 and 24.

A Thackeray Avenue Northwest man, 33, was charged Sept. 23 with domestic violence. Police said he grabbed his girlfriend by the neck and tried to take a phone from her during an argument at the home. He was booked into the Stark County Jail.

Police arrested three men on disorderly charges Sept. 23 at a bar on Dressler Road. A Canton man, 20, was accused of yelling obscenities at officers and refusing to leave. He also was charged with underage consumption. A Canton man, 21, was accused of fighting with employees. A Louisville man, 26, refused to leave after several requests. He also was charged with resisting arrest after ignoring orders to place his hands behind his back. All three were arrested and taken to the Stark County Jail.

A Canton man, 18, and a juvenile were charged with theft Sept. 23 at a Dressler Road department store. Police said they were observed concealing items in bags and leaving without paying.

Two men, ages 20 and 22, were arrested on misdemeanor drugs charges Sept. 23 following a traffic stop on Everhard Road. An officer and K-9 unit reportedly located suspected marijuana and a digital scale in their car. The 20-year-old driver was also charged with driving under suspension and a marked lanes violation.

Police were called to a jewelry store in the Belden Village Mall Sept. 22 after a man reportedly grabbed a necklace and bracelet off a counter and fled out the door with them. The items were valued at more than $4,000. The suspect was described as a light-skinned black male in his 20s, wearing a gray Calvin Klein sweater, baseball cap and aviator sunglasses. He was last seen getting into a white Dodge van with up to five other occupants, police said.

An Akron man, 52, was charged Sept. 22 with theft and criminal trespass. Police said the man was caught leaving a Portage Street home improvement store with merchandise he did not pay for. He was warned last August to stay out of all the chain’s stores after an alleged shoplifting incident at a sister store in Akron, police said.

Police investigated a vandalism incident on Heatherview Street Northwest Sept. 22. A resident reported a device exploded in her mailbox.

On Sept. 21, a Mudbrook Street woman reported someone used her personal information to obtain fraudulent checks. Some of the checks had been forged and cashed.

A Tennyson Avenue man, 27, and his wife, 20, were arrested Sept. 20 after police said they left a Dressler Road department store with $194 worth of items concealed inside the man’s clothing. The man was charged with theft and the woman was charged with complicity to commit theft. Police said the woman was observed handing items to the man. Both were released with a court summons.

A Canton woman reported a leather bag containing two pairs of earrings and a bracelet was stolen from her car while she was inside a Fulton Drive business Sept. 20.

A Thackeray Avenue woman, 22, was charged Sept. 20 with domestic violence. Police said she struck her boyfriend several times in the face with an open hand. She was arrested and booked into the Stark County Jail.

A Louisiana man staying at an Inn Circle motel reported Sept. 20 that his wallet containing $109 and credit cards was stolen from his unlocked vehicle in the parking lot.

An employee at a Whipple Avenue business reported someone punctured her car’s gas tank in the parking lot Sept. 18.
