AKRON The Ohio Conservatory of Ballet is offering classes in classical ballet, character dance, jazz, hip hop and baroque dance at its studio at 4858 S. Main St.

OCB is the only school in Northeast Ohio that teaches the Vaganova Russian method (International Program). Classes are available for young children through advanced students.

This past year, the studio received recognition by winning the Outstanding School Award at the Youth America Grand Prix regional competition in Pittsburgh. The YAGP is a prestigious international ballet competition and current students are preparing for next year’s competition.

Over the summer, several students were chosen to participate in and received scholarships to prestigious intensives including the Bolshoi Ballet programs in New York City and Connecticut. An advanced student won a full scholarship to travel to Moscow with the Bolshoi. Others participated in the Cincinnati Ballet and ArtEmotion intensives.

Studio owners Inna Stabrova and Dmitriy Tuboltsev spent the summer as guest artists and summer intensive instructors in different states. Inna was part of the teaching faculty of the Kansas City Ballet character dance seminar. Both Inna and Dmitriy were instructors for the ArtEmotion summer intensive in Cleveland.
